In a non-stand your ground state, when you follow someone and kill them, even though you had the ability to walk away, it’s murder. It’s only self defense if you’re trapped by an assailant with no opportunity to leave, or in your own home.
The trial is over, and a jury could not find Zimmerman guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. That’s the way it is, and I think we should move on. But it seems pretty clear to me that race is still a potent issue in the US. Assuming that everyone has good will (quite an assumption, but let’s start there), how do people move forward? Shouting and blaming?
How would you get the undocumented guns from the criminals who had stolen them or from an illegal source? Ask the criminals to please come in and hand them in no questions asked? The problem with you and the liberals is you believe that a gun policy will automatically get all guns out of the criminals hands. It only works on law abiding citizens as they follow the law and criminals don’t, hence the word criminal.
@DrCanuckDefine “went after him”…..Anybody has the right to approach you – that is, walk right up to you – and they can even insult you verbally. And you still do not have the right to put your hands on them in any way. However, if you are straddling that person and punching them in the face with the back of their head resting against the concrete sidewalk…they do have a right to defend themselves with deadly force. And they better do it quick because if they don’t they’re going to be dead or severely brain-damaged.

I wish people could “walk in each others shoes” for a while. That would probably be the best thing for our society and communities.
