My impression on seeing the film was that Depp’s Tonto was actually patterned after Buster Keaton, but I could be wrong…

People do remember its a fictional movie character based off another fictional character from another media. So I’m sure there are more important things to cry about, and honestly would not see him as one that would deliberately make something look horrible.

$225 million disney spent on this. many people think that disney should stick to animated movies. and, that depp is box office poison, 2 consecutive bombs(dark shadows and lone ranger).

The crow and Tonto’s reason for keeping it with him are all spelled out in the movie.

You all do realize the Tonto character was regarded as a nut/deeply damaged individual by the other indians in the movie ?- the Lone Ranger’s meeting with the chiefs, when they explained that the child Tonto had been devastated by helping bring about the decimation of his village? So for better or worse, Depp played him as crazy like a fox – much like the Jack Sparrow character.
