I was reading an article about how most of the military aid we send them is actually spent on american arms. It said Egypt has a contract to purchase 1200 Abrams tanks. That should ease Israeli worries.

Omnius, this is nothing but pure selfish agenda. Morsi was democratically elected, and the Army deposed him because they did not like the path he was taking, because he (or at least his party) might have become more powerful than the Army like in Iran. For all the muted noise the US is making against the coup, it’s evident that they too prefer a democracy of a different type where the elected government is more pro-USA. Which essentially means not a true democracy. Now in Egypt and anywhere else in the world, Islamic parties will know that even political and democratic success will not get them anywhere, so why bother?

    Is that what we want?

A significant part of the aid given to Egypt is for our ships to get priority to pass through the Suez Canal.
