Closing Planned Parenthood clinics will cause abortion rates to soar, but now they’ll be illegal and unsafe. It’s not like we don’t know what will happen — just like in the 1950s, the rich will be able to get their abortions in blue states, from private specialists, or Switzerland; while the poor will die in back alleys. It’s already happening in Texas — though abortion can be perfectly safe, they’re forced to cross the border and pick up risky medicines at Mexican pharmacies. All because one party has decided that the health of women is irrelevant, only political power matters.

It’s called State Rights and if you don’t like it, move to another state. I’m sure New York and California will pay for the murder of your child.

@Conservgov. You realize that State’s Rights was used to justify slavery, restrictions on marrying outside of one’s race, separate bathrooms and water fountains, and a host of Jim Crow voting restrictions?

Closing Planned Parenthood, a facility that educates people on birth control and STDs will do nothing but increase the spread of disease and increase the abortion rate.

It’s not just for poor people… I’ve been to see a doctor at one of their clinics and paid cash.

At the same time, abortions aren’t just for women trying to “kill their babies”. My wife had serious complications in her first pregnancy and needed one to save her life. When you make the procedure illegal you’re condemning tens of thousands of women with serious complications in pregnancy, ones where the fetus is already dead or has zero chance of life, to a horrible, agonizing death.

When men and states start getting pregnant, I’ll start listening to their rationales determining when to deem abortions illegal.

Everything I said is true, and you have no evidence otherwise. Has conservatism gotten so inane that truth is dismissed as “Dumb?” No wonder your philosophy is failing in the marketplace of ideas.

Men have always felt they had the right to control women’s reproductive activities. When I wanted to get my tubes tied at the age of 35 with two children, I was told to bring my husband down so the doctor could make sure he agreed. Women continue to be treated as second-class citizens without the intelligence or rights to make their own decisions. As with blacks, there is much work to be done.

My grandma had two back alley abortions. Let’s hear it for conserving old-time values! (She told me herself.)

The net effect of abstinence in my parents days was quite a few pregnant 14 year olds, compounded by shotgun marriages which one could only prey would work out. Or in most cases it simply became abusive^Prevention is larger than ever before, also as another fun fact about 9 million children die each year from easily treatable diseases, polluted water and starvation. Yet foreign aid tends to be the first thing cut in all situations.

Finally statistics of abortions performed in X state are going to be influenced by factors outside of the state

closed the clinics by requiring them to be clean and having a doctor be there and having a relationship with a hospital in case of emergency

No matter what we approve or disapprove of…if there is a call for something, it will exist. Better to be safe and legal, than dangerous and hidden away in a back alley. Prostitution could be a good source of revenue….legalise it and tax it.

How about men treating women as respected partners, instead of appliances?

“Use birth control (cheap & effective) and you won’t have a problem in the first place!”

At +- $150 OOP to see a physician, plus added charges for prescriptions and devices, I wouldn’t call BC ‘cheap’.

Oh, yeah, condoms are cheap, and they are also ineffective. They break. Men hate to use them.

Birth control is not cheap in this world, and most of it is not reliable. Not reliable enough, at least, to warrant this hostility to abortion.

It is very simple for those who disapprove of abortion. They don’t need to have one. People keep pointing out that abortion is legal. So it is, in a half-a$$ed sort of way. What we should be pointing out is that NO ONE is ever forced to have an abortion, period.

If that ever happens in this country, then you will have cause for complaint. In the meantime, MYOB.

“Men use women as sport and entertainment, most(?) mature and see them as equals, {or superiors}.”

If they are ‘using’ women at all, they do NOT consider them equals or superiors.

I agree that there are a good many men out there who still haven’t got the message.

“What happens between you and your doctor is private! I don’t know why any of you wants the government to come between you and your doctor.”

I’m with you. My personal position is that the government needs to stop practising medicine without a license – on humans, and also on animals.

Why would anybody risk his health by letting politicians and bureaucrats practise medicine on them???

“Planned Parenthood does whatever the woman wants. If she wants to abort the baby because of its gender, they’ll do it.”

Well, that’s what they are there for. To provide family planning services.

There is no point in making plans, if one can’t realize them.

If you disapprove of abortion, don´t have one. It really is that simple. You are entitled to make decisions regarding your pregnancy, I make them regarding mine.

“I’m curious why closing planned parenthood clinics is going to cause women in increasing numbers to have abortions.”In addition to providing low cost or free healthcare and medical screenings for women, they also provide prenatal care, contraception, and family planning counseling.

When a woman decides to kill her unborn child, I have no sympathy for her if anything goes wrong during the abortion procedure, whether it’s with a coat hanger or not.And I’m tired of the argument of “A woman can do whatever with her body”. If that’s the truth, why then is prostitution illegal? Drugs? Etc. It’s HER body! Cross one line and then the others are easier to cross soon after.

Note to Coraryan: no state requires a man to check with his wife, or “significant other” before getting a vasectomy. Although after two kids, my wife and I made the joint decision that my procedure was a lot less invasive than her getting HER tubes tied.

Of course the argument that men should dictate to women that having their period if they’re having sex is a crime that “kills babies”. Men don’t have a problem with masturbation because each time “kills” MILLIONS OF POTENTIAL BABIES! That old “spilling the seed” is a biblical “crime”, overlooks the fact that it was over 1,000 years from that time that they really figured out the biology of making babies.

Using the bible as a medical guide is like looking in it for instruction on how to build the space shuttle.
