I take my mother-in-law to all of her doctors’ appointments. Her heart doctor is, I believe, Chinese. He has a real thick Asian accent and a stutter. I do my best helping MIL to understand, but it can be difficult. He is patient with us and has a good sense of humor. He is recommended in this area as one of the best at what he does so we just all work at understanding one another. Hey, what if all the people in the world did that?

Put the words to a song. See if that helps. Think of a rhyme, make it flow

As to the “ear buzz”, Wiki has a rather long entry claiming that: Tinnitus is common: about 20% of people between 55 and 65 years old report symptoms on a general health questionnaire, and 11.8% on more detailed tinnitus-specific questionnaires.

I wonder if he would have an easier time texting. He could type it out and hold it out to others to read.

Leo doesn’t seem to have PTSD, at least not too bad a case. What he has is aphasia, difficulty speaking due to a brain injury. Most people hearing him would just consider him “stupid” and dismiss him. "Ear buzz’ is common in the recording and broadcasting industries; everybody turns the volume up too far.

As a sound engineer and tinnitus victim, I empathize.

one can’t hear too well ‘cause the ears are too noisy. the other can’t get the words out from the head to the mouth..Laurel & Hardy? Burns & Allan? Hope & Crosby? They worked well together. So do these two.

I’ll save the trolls the trouble:If it weren’t for Obamacare there wouldn’t be any aphasia or tinnitis. Sooner or later the gubmint will make us all have it!

Consonants are higher pitched than vowels, you lose your higher frequencies first, ergo people seem to be mumbling. Get the hearing aids, guy!

I’ve begun to notice tinnitus in my right ear. It doesn’t seem to be constant but when it comes on it lasts for awhile. Perhaps thinking about it makes me more aware of it. I can hear reasonably well. I still enjoy good music but the harder rock and louder country just gets me agitated. As does any genre that requires ear and/or brain filters.

Tinnitus is the hair cells in the inner ear firing off randomly—and thus not responding to sound waves, ergo, it’s a sign of hearing damage.
