“Hemispheres”….

I really think Quill could be good for Luann in the same way that Toni is good for Brad. If this turns out to be another major heartbreak for Luann, I confess I’ll shed a tear or two – but unless Greg plans on retiring any time soon, at some point Luann’s likely to find the true love of her life. For my money, Quill’s a good candidate.

Isn’t it way premature for Quill to be discussing this with Luann if he hasn’t even mentioned it to his parents yet? He will have a hard time convincing mom and dad that he needs to go to the USA for his senior year of high school to be an actor. This argument falls flat on its face when you consider the number of actors who were trained in Australia. It will be clear that he wants to come to the USA just to be with Luann (or Gunther, as the case may be), and why would his parents sent him abroad for his senior year just for that?

no, it’s true, this plan really, really stretches credibility……of course, so do all the great-looking/blah looking pairings, so I guess I’ll just roll with it, lol

To be fair, being aggressive about marriage does sort of run in this family. Luckily for Quill, as the man, it’s normally his job to make that particular call. He’ll probably wait till she matures, however, much like Toni did. Dergroots need time to put down roots before they become adequate matches for life.

Speaking of Quill being 18, I’m guessing (please correct me if I’m wrong) that he is a legal adult in Australia. As such, he could do whatever he wants. Of course, as it is worldwide, it now depends on his parents’ willingness to finance his future endeavors. So we’ll see…

Well, I’m NOT a Big Fan of Mr. Perfect either. But if He does indeed move in with Gunther, things could get REAL Interesting.

This bromance postings? Can’t guys be friends? Quill is so smart, and outside the orbit that these characters have occupied—remember they grew up together—recognizes the tremendous character and brains of Gunther. Gunther also has a very hot, very smart babe who has fallen for him, Rosa. Together they will be very successful, unless of course Greg has other plans. And good grief, don’t you remember that Gunther and Knute are best buds? Although now Knute is getting more involved with Crystal. The issue there is will she be too controlling? That is an interesting question. I think Knute can make her relent a bit, because she really will not want to lose him. No Quill is in love with Luann, and he is the best guy of all the candidates she has fallen for over the years. Also remember he wants to come here 10000 miles to be with Luann, her first “love” ended going to Hawaii to be with a girl he met before the era of Skype.

Luann, dear, back off a little bit, you’re turning a bit Tiffany here. Don’t be over clingy

The idea that Luann wants her boyfriend to live in her house in her brother’s own room is pretty telling. She’s never been a serious person- more in love with the IDEA of being in love than the reality. She’s a moony-eyed child. I can see her go all ballistic when he parents give her a flat No on this.

Enough of Quill and Luann, and Brad and Toni, and TJ and the food truck. How about a story arc on Tiffany and the picture frame deal? Was it a legitimate job? That whole story sounded so suspicious – using a drama camp as a modeling agency – that I wonder who was behind it. Maybe the same mysterious party who paid her tuition? There are plenty more interesting questions there than are in the other ongoing storylines.

And Gunther talked to others for advice about how to get close to Rosa. Why would he bother if he was stil interested in Luann?

I notice that you ignored Donny’s suggestion that Bernice and Delta are becoming a couple.

What a team! Each has a plan (one left brain, the other right). BUT*1) If he’s going to be a senior again, does this mean Luann will be repeating her junior year?*2) Why go all that way back for just a couple weeks? Stay here and have the folks FedEx the clothes & supplies.

I’m pretty sure that everyone understands the time concept. I believe the point was that Quill had already completed his senior year, and now he’s ready to do another senior year!

Would this be his third senior year? He did part of one here in the USA, he is half-way through his current one in Australia (he attended the drama camp during winter break), and now he wants to go through it a third time, once again in Pitt? His parents would be nuts to allow that!

He is joining the club of repeating a school year over, and over, and over……….A benefit, or a cost, of never aging.

Ergo, Activist’s question: does this mean Luann will be repeating her junior year? And if not, are there other continuity anomalies such as this in the history of the strip?

Some people here seem to have some mistaken notions about the word “bromance.” It’s an unusually close friendship two STRAIGHT men. It doesn’t imply anything sexual.

I’m glad you brought this up because a few times I’ve wanted to comment about this subject but didn’t because I might be thought of as a Tiffany type, which I am not, evil and conniving anyways. So here goes: back in the day when I was single I looked at married men as being off limits and never dated them. In my opinion if a man was not married, that meant he was available. Of course, if I actually personally knew the girlfriend as a friend, then I would respect the boundaries. So I’m not sure how this applies to the high school scenario, but it does answer the question from my point of view. I mean if Tiff can woo Quill away from Luann it doesn’t necessarily make her the evil one, but more so it makes Quill the fickle one. Doesn’t the saying go all is fair in love and war?

Hold yer fire, Luann! Being clingy is the easiest way to lose a boyfriend, especially at your age. Does she worry that The Tiff will go after Quill again, or that they’d end up in some community theater group without her…again?…only “The Shadow Knows”…tune in to tomorrow’s comic and the days after that and your questions will be answered…or not until Greg is good and ready to pen that arc everyone’s been looking forward to… ;)

Luann is behaving in exactly the opposite of the way she did when he found her so appealing before. I hope this is a temporary aberration. It’s not only annoying to us, but potentially to him.

In Tiffany’s case it was made clear, with increasing emphasis, that Quill had no interest in her, and in any event, it remained entirely questionable if Tiff had any real interest in him, other than to injure Luann . . .

You’re right about that; mutual attraction is the key. The motive on Tiffany’s part is entirely questionable, which is why she qualifies as a tramp.

Luann has her hand under his shirt, which is perhaps a good sign.

One problem with Luann and Quinn reuniting is that the main characters in the strip will be happily paired. Hardly the stuff of dramatic tension—a happy Luann is a boring Luann. The other problem is that Quinn is gay. I bet he and Gunther hit it off really well.

Greg Evans had wanted to “out” Aaron Hill as gay, but he backed off in order not to lose papers. Now that (1) a number of other successful comics have featured gay characters, (2) Evans may be preparing to retire, and (3) newspaper comics papers are shrinking and dropping strips right and left, no matter what the cartoonists do, maybe this is the time to revisit that idea. Send Rosa overseas with her diplomat Dad, bring Quill back to be Gunther’s roommate, and let Quill go on to be a song and dance chorus line boy in Broadway shows while Gunther stays home and sews Quill’s costumes. A marriage made in Heaven (or Pitt, close enough)!

Quill has been here since 2009? WOW, just doesn’t seem that long. Damn I hate getting older.

I want to see the execution of Qcumber’s plan…. =even if we don’t get to see the folks, I just want to see the plan in action….

Mine would do it for BOTH…. Every movie’s poigniant moment, whether sad or the triumphant moment of realization for a character, or a motivational pep talk, or the overcoming of a struggle… our running joke is I check and guess when she’s crying, and she says…. “Nooooooo!”…. or “leammie alone” (jokingly) or “look over there!”…Guess it ties in with today’s strip!

Oh, I’m sooo sorry! There were certain situations growing up where I had to deal with that issue from somewhere in my family, or a close friend… Again, I’m so sorry!

I realize that this is not a forum for such, but for me in dealing with similar issues, we received a great deal of encouragement in what my wife and I put our faith in, an earthly resurrection… I know that this is not that kind of forum, but my wife and I have had issues involving losing family and friends current and past, and over the years, we had to really lean upon the personal encouragement we have received in this…

Yeah, and a “Vulcan like resolve” in managing emotions.. one thing people don’t always realize about Spock and Vulcans, they do feel, but have a process for grieving and feeling emotions.. sometimes, people seem emotionless, but they really aren’t! Quite the opposite, actually….

And that is hard to have that situation…. Yeah, in my family there are one or two people that I had mixed feelings for, because of those similar issues….. a lot of unanswered questions, unresolved issues…

And “funny” thing about it is that no one can say; “I understand”…. not completely….

…and some of you were ready to throw Quill under the bus. The way Evans has written him, he may actually be TOO mature for Luann .. but this would make a nice coda or transition to another phase in the strip. No, Luann. Quill won’t be staying in Brad’s old room. I tried that a long time ago, you know it’s funny how parents look at you when you suggest the daughter of a friend of your mom that you have a crush on stay the weekend .. ha!

can we say plane crash
