The best airport experience I ever had was in October 2001 when no one was flying and there was virtually no airport security. I don’t fly anymore because of all the federal goons.

The country that will trade a little liberty for a little security will lose both and deserve neither.

The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. Jeez, what’s it going to take? At this point, any rational person would be more afraid of our government than terrorists.

Oh crud, a few hundred years from now things will have calmed down, and people will consider all this present fuss silly. The education system will have been perfected so that people are finally content :.“Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they’re so frightfully clever. I’m awfully glad I’m a Beta, because I don’t work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don’t want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They’re too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I’m so glad I’m a Beta.” (Aldous Huxley, BRAVE NEW WORLD)

“…someone who has the confidence to make such a claim with absolutely no proof must be right.”Ha! That’s a gem!

“A return to God, Family, Country. In that order.”You failed to specify that you’re really looking for your notion of those ideals.

Even the Founding Fathers were worried about the consequences of allowing a “ruling class” to form. They did what they could, but the electorate has mutely stood by while the rulers voted themselves more and more power. The author Poul Anderson was worried about a future ruled by brigands and cutthroats. It’s funny how clearly some scifi authors see the future.

Strangely, I agree with much of what you say.As I don’t have any particular political commitments in the USA (nor where I live), I judge the Man, not the Party. What you say about the Iraqian Conspiracy Theory is indubitably correct, especially as there is no evidence, but a darn good story.-——in the end, it looks like the system has so much inertia that no one man can significantly alter its momentum.

Yeah, that’s the sort of thing that scares me.

Awfully close to having a Beria with either of GWB’s two flankers, Cheney or Rumsfeld.

I haven’t forgotten that. You never heard the hoots of derision whenever GWB announced that he had made the world safe for democracy.

Obama is so far from being a socialist that I cannot start to explain it to you>I’ll say again, I am not even a resident of the USA, and commentate from afar. You’re scared of the demise of the USA if it were ever to become socialist, well, it’s pretty well the only country that isn’t, yet it has the nastiest recessions and is still trying to get national health care. And before you mention Greece and one or two others, yes, valid points, but they’re small fry and their collapse had a lot to do with the USA fiscal systems being appallingly corrupt, which compounded with their corruptions.Few countries went backwards as far as the USA during the GFC, and it was widely predicted that would be the case. It was like watching a train wreck while GWB was partying in the caboose.

Hey, good one. My respect for you has risen immensely. Voting independent can be very prudent.I can’t vote for any POTUS, I’ve never lived in the USA.See my notes re momentum, we actually agree. Shame of a wasted talent.

You forgot to credit Obama for the air you breath, the computer you typed your reply on, the food on your table etc. etc..I guess you can get to that when you pray to him tonight.
