    I guess so. Just look at the community organizer that got into the White House. Twice.After that disaster, maybe it should be a little tougher to vote. Maybe folks should have at least a GED?

    “America is a better place when public schools openly operate Democrat voter re-education camps.”

    Its comments like these that explain why the rest of the world is ahead in education. Most countries require English as a second language. Am’rka? Not so much.

    As I posted yesterday, picture IDs, the difficulty in getting picture IDs, and the cost are what I think are the main problem.Other restrictions like shortened voting hours and too few polling places are a concern, but less so.(One niece couldn’t vote last November because she moved and didn’t have the proper ID, but she would have voted for Romney, HA!)

    Tigger says “In The 1960’s and 1970’s our Rural County which was 100% White all said Blacks must have the Right to Vote.” That reminds me of the lady who asks the butcher how much he charges for ground beef and he says $5 a pound. She says, the butcher across the street only charges $4.75 a pound. He says, well then, buy it from him. She says, he doesn’t have any. So the butcher says, when I don’t have any I charge $4.50 a pound.

    “… someone will pick you up and drive you to the station to have your Free Photo ID made.”

    Well that sure does sound like really great security to me. sfont [OFF]

    That is supposed to be the point of the exercise, right?

    @SkepticCal

    “What do you want as a first language?”

    SkepticCal, I think the point was that children are no longer taught any language skills at all, and kids in many other countries are taught English as a second language and actually leave school fluent enough to function in an English speaking language country.

    I can personally vouch for Israel and Germany, and I understand Japan does a good job.

    I haven’t done any research; I cite Israel and Germany because I know young people from each country who arrived here speaking functional standard english.

    Our Israeli friend couldn’t figure out why he had trouble communicating with the locals (farm community), but very little communicating with my daughter and I. I told him the problem was that they don’t speak standard English, and in fact, a lot of them don’t undestand me, either.

    Sadly, it was, and remains, true.
