Hi wrestling fans. Marty O’Neill here. This little pow-wow down at the station was all about setting up a BLOCKBUSTER promoted by Mr. Wally Karbo. A headliner rematch of Hairy vs. Gil. What a FABULOUS main event IT WILL BE. In the preliminary feature it’s Chief vs Herk the Mauler. Also on the undercard the “very capable” Kenny Jay, the “Sodbuster”, against a yet to be named opponent. For charity, of course. All certified paramedics have comped front row seats. SEE YOU SATURDAY NITE AT THE MILFORD METROPLEX!!
Hmm. Why doesn’t Gil coach wrestling and track? “He was a hairy handed gent, who ran amok in Kent, lately he’s been overheard in Mayfair. You’d better stay away for him, he’ll rip your lungs out Gil, HAH! But I’d like to meet his tailor.”
To chiphilton, the Hairy Hercules story arc was very, very early Berrill. Most of the Berrill strips have been published in trade paperback (although I suspect they are mostly out-of-print). They were not published chronologically, however, which can distort the recall of time relationships.
Maybe the fact that Gil wrestled in college explained why he struggles during the hoops seasons. Not sure it’s possible to wrestle while playing basketball in college since the seasons are at the same time.
Wiseguy 1130 must be a Minnesota native with the references to Marty O’Neill and Wally Karbo. How about the Crusher, Dr. X, Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon, Kenny Jay, and Kenny Yates.
