I’ve seen people using EBT cards buying lobster and steak. Food stamps should be restricted to non-luxury items that are nutritious and sustainable.

what planet are you from? Just because you have some people that abuse the system does not mean everyone abuses it. Do you know of these abusers personally? Typical BS from Conservative.

A the 7-11 by my house, I joked with the clerk that I wanted to use my EBT card since there was a big sign saying EBT Accepted. He saw my business attire and chuckled. He then said he actually wouldn’t be surprised. He said people routinely come in driving BMW’s and Mercedes for Big Gulps and other junk using an EBT card. Even though it looks just like a credit card, his system tells him it’s an EBT card. He wishes people still had to pull out actual Food Stamps so everybody else could see the scam they are pulling. I agree.

Ah, the poor folks running ADM, Cargill, Monsanto and the other huge agribusiness firms getting the vast majority of funds from the Republican side of the farm bill, as well as, yes, Democrats from “farm states” as well, vacationing in the Bahamas, on their own private yachts (bought with taxpayer payouts), or flying down on tax-free corporate jets for an overnighter, yep, corporate welfare/“food stamp” recipients are barely getting by.

“Non-food” items are not supposed to be purchased under the program, and that “lobster and steak” bs shows up in every right-wing complaint statement, but the fact is, those ARE food items, and if you use all your “bucks” on that, it’s legit. The REAL problem, health-wise is that 90% of the “food” going out is prepared “meals” because few people know how to cook with “basics” today, plus, those junk meals prepackaged are CHEAPER than “real food” like produce and raw materials.

I dare any one of you city louts to try faming in this day and age, farm bill or no. And when all is said and done, the farmer gets less than 3% of that huge budget. Although the small farmers can use a hand, they won’t miss the oversight required by complying with the farm bill.

oil subsidies“subsidies” for oil and gas are in fact tax provisions that apply to many organizations and industries across the board. For example, the New York Times editorial page claimed in July 2010 that the oil and gas industry’s biggest subsidy was the manufacturing income deduction under Section 199 of the tax code — without pointing out that the New York Times qualifies for exactly the same provision. In fact, disqualifying oil and gas activities from this standard provision would discriminate against our industry and our workers – it’s not removing a “subsidy.”

another is foreign tax credit which is available to individuals [maybe dr c ] form 1116

Tom Noe: Managed to get a contract with Ohio to “invest” in rare coins. Lost money, and convicted of fraud. JobsOhio: Kasich plan, gets profits from Ohio Liquor Control Dept to bring jobs to Ohio, gives money to Toledo Mud Hens to set up a promotional campaign, and gets legislature to legislate no oversight of fund expenditures because it’s “private” money. New budget ups property taxes, takes back rollback provision on same, ups sales tax, gives minor income tax break, including average $400 cut yearly to 80% of small businesses, all in the name of “job creation.” So tell me who are the REAL welfare queens and enablers? Also refuse to up severance tax on frackers, again citing jobs, even though increase would still leave tax less than Pa or WV!
