Margret decides that, when in doubt, go with “our royal portrait”…

…which is certainly understated — and in the very best of taste.

Funny that you should bring up Austria! I recognise the Tyrolean crest in the portrait! My wife’s Tyrolean. Back in the day, it wasn’t yet part of Austria. Way before that lady in the portrait kicked the proverbial pisspot, she had lost the Bavarian & Carinthian commodes, ending up with…yup, just the bird. That’s the Countess of Tyrol. Tyrolean independence hopes were flushed away despite Maggie’s brave attempts to match her interior decor. The Tyrolean outhouse was later incorporated into the Austrian empire.

Btw, you’re right to link the double-headed eagle as facist, it was on their flag between ‘34 &’38 during their short period of Austrofacism. But when Hitler annexed Austria, I think it was removed. The current coat of arms, since ’45, now only has a 1 headed eagle like before ’34.

Maybe click-to-enlarge image can be found here. A smaller enlargement can be found at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.Margarete of Gorizia-Tyrol with Tyrolean, Bavarian and Carinthian coat of arms (link shows her Wikipedia page — history wasn’t kind to her, Google translated German Wikipedia page has more; earlier here link has links to the coats of arms) isn’t shown online, as far as I can tell, by its current-location(?).I’ve sent an enquiry to the (unsure) current-location. If I get a reply, I’ll post below and at the here link what I find out.Thirteenth, of the at least 17 works (for some reason, only 16 are listed today), with no attribution, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

Do you use the winner’s or loser’s shield for the toilet seat? The loser’s goes on the urinals.

I’ve not even read the comments, but a display of heraldry being interpreted as toilet seat lids is just TOO FUNNY! This is my own registered arms in the game.
