We had a Cocker Spaniel that would let us know the water bowl was empty by pushing the toilet lid up and letting it fall. The first time she did it, she kept it up until I came to investigate the noise. After that, I just automatically filled the water bowl when I heard the noise. With 3 dogs at the time, I had a 5 quart water bowl. That would last 2 or 3 days in the summer.

My husband would have the lid closed when he shaved etc. The cat would jump up there to watch him. One time he forgot to close the lid and the cat jumped up. I walked in just in time to see. The look on that cat’s face was priceless! Doctor Toon – cute video. Who says cats aren’t smart?

Yep, Boots clearly understands English, and has learned to speak some. I had a cat about 30 years ago who could say “Out” and “I don’t wanna!” His consonants were a bit weak, but between the vowel sounds, intonation, and context, his meaning was perfectly clear.

Sophie, sweetie…it is the innate nature of the breed (feline domesticus) to be judgmental… comes with the territory. That having been said…these 2 guys’ legs are too short to slurp at the porcelain water bowl.
