I find it interesting that there are more than a few Islamic countries in the area that could easily afford to contribute weapons for the Syrian rebels. Also the same countries have modern air forces and could enforce a no-fly zone. So why is it in our “best interests” to arm these people, knowing that a significant number of them are Al Qaeda supporters? The middle east is obviously still in the throws of their continued Sunni-Shiite conflict that has been a killing point for several hundred years.
This vague inference that it is in our “best interests” to maintain stability is absurd. We have failed miserably to keep Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and we no sooner withdraw from Iraq than the country is on the verge of another civil war. Our policy of not negotiating with terrorists seems to apply selectively, since we are ready to sit down and talk to the Taliban. Since we are pretty close to self-sufficient and don’t need their oil, I think it would be a dandy time to pull our troops out, man our own borders and let the middle east continue to kill each other with impunity, as they have done for centuries…
You would be correct based on scathing criticism regardless of action or inaction. this is a good thing, however unfortunately it is only productive if both sides are willing to speak vs politispeak slogans, all the while avoiding discussions both in public and private with those whom avoid their view
Yes, choose the ones who rip out and eat the beating hearts of their “enemies”, or the ones who ignore the actual guidance of the Quran to treat women as equals, and instead treat them worse than the dogs the proclaim are “Unclean”.
Islam, like Judaism and Christianity is NOT a singular identity, and ultra-orthodox Jews, and radical “Evangelical Christians” don’t treat their women a bit better than those “radical” Islamists. Hmm, they all also say the only eventual “victory” is the destruction of all life on Earth, but of course they will all go to “Heaven”.
