The hardest thing to find when we visited America was fresh fruit. Had the best luck in Vegas and the worst in New Orleans. Dined in a good restaurant in New Orleans and asked for fresh fruit. Was advised sorry we will have it tomorrow night as we haven’t done our shopping yet. Dined the following night and they now had tinned fruit.

Somehow I thought there would be semi intelligent geekish commentary here. You people can’t find fresh fruit in the U.S.? How dumb can you be?

Reminds me of that TV series about food. A teenage girl was explaining how she was eating healthy and pointing out all the right food groups in her Mac meal: Meat, bread and milk product (cheeseburger) Vegetables (fries)Fruit (soda)

It’s all in the wording. If Kathy doesn’t ask for the spelling, then there is no problem and none of those “looks” that women are instinctively born with, knowing how to give at exactly the right time.

Supermarket produce may not be the best, though. You’ll find fresher at a farm store.

@Brian Ransom… that comment, "How dumb can you be?’ was mean. No wonder other countries don’t like us as tourists. We think we are the only culture. If you were on vacation in another country, how often would you know where to find a grocery store, let alone purchase fruit there?…@TSR… Chitlins are pig intestines, but I don’t know how to cook ‘em.…It’s not that easy to find fresh fruit on the menu at restaurants. Canned fruit keeps longer, so it is more cost effective. Fresh fruit has a high percentage of waste. It’s about the money.

Oh, yeah… Roy’s right (eye roll). Froot Loops certainly sound like fruit. Ergo, it’s fruit. Keep up the good work, Roy!

Sadly, our food (even those that can APPEAR healthy) are so messed with (processed) that even fresh fruits and vegetables are sprayed with multiple poisons and grown from hybridized seeds.

Eating healthy is more difficult than even Roy makes it look. Dropping all the popular cereals is a start, tho’

I miss the original Trix, though. “Raspberry red, lemon yellow and orange orange.” Trix became way too tricked out. Ah well, I’m too old for it now, and it’s too sugary for me.

@johnzakour… I haven’t had Apple Jacks in ages. I forgot all about them. Then Roy could up his ‘fruit’ intake even more!

Christine and I went to Alba a couple of years ago. We had plenty of opportunity to try haggis, but we resisted the lure.
