I know people keep asking me if I play the game and I never heard of it until the first person asked me that. Like Huh? Then they ask me if I ever watched it. And I’m still wondering what they are talking about.
I have played the “game” that we do in SCA and was able to get my name and Coat of Arms approved within the first year (and awarded soon after). I now have my Arms on my feast gear, 2 court surcotes, a pair of shoes and on many scrolls.
I even have a full back story for my persona – An English Lady who is the daughter of the Court Goldsmith. We travel with the court of Holy Roman Emperor Frederic II in the 13th Century. I am in charge of all his pretty birds (He has a team of Asian men in charge of the hunting birds) and both sets of birds need training and care. It is known that he has an Umbrella Cockatoo (who he describes in a book of which I own a copy) and when he found that I had such affinity for the birds and communication with them, put me in charge of a team to care for all (including other parrots, peacocks etc) but no Hawks, falcons or such which he used for hunting. His heritage was mostly Germanic but he loved the south part of Italy and traveled often around all his lands with a huge entourage.
I decided that if I were going to live in Medieval times, I want the place where I would have access to lovely silks, foods from all over the world and mostly modern plumbing (which they did) and naturally so do I. My friend Cuddles_Cockatoo lived with me for over 23 years and is the major feature of my Arms.

Ahh, to be carefree & hopeful again… which ended for me about ten pages into ‘A Game of Thrones’.
