If you’ve never had professional makeup done for a show of some sort, you wouldn’t realize, that Gunther is most likely using alcohol to remove the spirit glue that Quill’s wig is most likely secured on with.

It’s a job – a professional modeling assignment. A high school girl trying to break into the business would have every right to be excited at getting this gig to add to her resume’. Lets just hope it’s legit and not some cruel scheme by Tiffany’s enemies to lure her away from the camp and her starring role in the play.

So Tiff stays frozen as an aspiring dumb bimbo. Boys or fame and that’s it. I expected more. Sigh. Quill calls it as he’s sanctified as the new moral standard for the strip. The picture frame opportunity obviously wouldn’t mean recognition, but rather obscurity, as in buried in a wallet or one of 50 pictures at Best Buy. But as a poster said yesterday, the experience and credit will build her portfolio. Tiff may rise to live another day.

It’s a modeling job. No, nobody who buys a picture frame will know whose photograph comes inside it. You don’t know the names of 99% of the models who appear in ads in magazines or TV commercials, but it’s a job, and it’s a professional credit. Tiffany is striving to accomplish things and get somewhere in the show business world,

So, the story could have built to teach something about Tiffany, about her need to be seen and heard, about something that makes her human rather than an example of a cardboard villain. We might not learn to like her, but an idea of her motivations, needs and fears could form her into an actual character. Or this can happen.

In some ways I feel sorry for Tiffany. Underneath it all she’s an insecure girl who doesn’t think she has anything better to offer the world than her pretty face. If she tried a bit harder in class she might find something else worthwhile. She hides the insecurity well though, have to give her credit for that.

“But an Aussie with strong accent playing George Washington? Odd casting.”^You’d have to imagine how Hugh Jackman, Daniel Day Lewis, and tohers are able to play their roles… voice coaching, method acting, etc… ==This camp has classes as well as this production, “George”…. at those classes, counselors’ and teachers’ jobs are to help aspiring actors/actresses to learn such things as preparing for a specific character, studying a role (time, place, setting, etc)… all of these things are taken care of, so it is possible that this is what’s going on… (also, you can imagine that the word balloons will read in “Aussie” and “American” versions of English…. so, you can imagine that Quill will correspondingly take on an English/American dialect for the play….

“More like Lights! Camera! Stupidity!”^Well, the reason that I was saying the word “Inaction”, was because in this instance, the potential “storming off” of the lead roles seemed to have been temporarily averted… thus an ironic twist and play on words to the phrase……

I agree also, Sally and Metal maiden. Greg has managed to create "stereotypical "characters with whose stories we can engage at an extraordinary depth. Witness the depth of feeling displayed in the comments—for whomever the commenter is rooting. I rarely comment, but read both comic and comments every day. BTW, Tiff is almost cute in her rapid change of perspective and enthusiasm. I suspect we’re not nearly done with this arc.

English and Australian actors learn American accents from their earliest days in the business, in order to have more opportunities open to them. Many learn to pull it off perfectly. (Think of Peter Sellers as the President of the USA in “Dr. Strangelove”.) American actors don’t work nearly so hard on learning British or other accents, and a native Brit can easily spot the impostor. Sometimes it’s painfully obvious even to Americans, too. (Think of Dick Van Dyke in “Mary Poppins”.)

It’s also interesting how some singers can be from England and it doesn’t always pick up in their songs… for the longest time, I didn’t even know that Bonnie Tyler (“Total Eclipse of the Heart”, “Holding Out For A Hero”, “It’s A Heartache”) was Welsh…. I guess because she had Meatloaf penned, dramatic songs to sing…lol!

“A most obvious example of a UK actor playing an American is, of course, Hugh Laurie as the lead character in ‘House’”

My most notable would be Sir Christopher Lee as “Prof. Alan Driscoll” in the Horror classic, “City of the Dead,” known in the USA as “Horror Hotel.” He even speaks of how he crafted the American accent in the “intro” he did for the DVD. I did not realize, until I saw the DVD that the entire film was shot in the UK. All the actors did USA accents, some better than others. I was able to detect the “imposters.” :)

It is also strange that all the rehearsals seem to be in costume. And it’s particularly strange that a drama camp double as a modeling agency for jobs like this picture frame company. We have also seen almoost nothing of the other campers, or any activities aside from this one play. Much strangeness here, all around.
