Lady Liberty wouldn’t participate in data mining. Lady Justice might, if it was done the way it is supposed to be done with all three branches of gov’t and particularly the FISC involved. But Lady Justice has been abused before, and we, as citizens and neighbors, must be vigilant to protect Liberty AND Justice from those who believe ends justify means.Respectfully,C.
Lets just say for arguments sake that Obama suddenly shuts down FISA. No more datamining & we are then hit with another 911 terrorist attack. Who do you think is then going to get the blame for not protecting America ? It’s a double edged sword but I’m willing to bet if the GOP was in the White House today the rightwing would be praising the President for keeping us safe.
Agree with Dycel. Watching “events” in this degeneration over the last three decades, from inside, and outside the government, with mere access to real facts most in the pubic weren’t aware of, or didn’t pay attention to, or care about , wasn’t “secret”, or “special knowledge”, it was just awareness. To see “reality” twisted beyond recognition by “conservatives” blaming “government” for all problems, as they turned the nation over to corporate interests, in nearly every agency of government, and building more, to serve or be run by the “corporate world”, was disturbing, to say the least.
Aschroft perhaps best symbolized the whole situation when he hid “Lady Justice” behind a blue curtain, while they continued to keep(divert) the nation’s interest on a blue dress.

Unfortunately, people today are willing to give up liberty for security. That means that we will have neither.
