Not a bad post, you too are almost there. I would like to think that when a young girl wants to have an abortion, that such as planned parenthood presents other options also. Perhaps it would be better if we followed the Scandinavian model where the options not only include relatively simple procedures of adoption, but also direct governmental help in raising her child in a reasonable manner. Of course, this would mean an increase in welfare and child services for such girls, but is that not worth it to keep the levels of abortions down? What sometimes is not brought out by both sides, is that an abortion is not a choice that most young women would choose to even make if other options other than abject poverty for both themselves and their children were not the only other choice!!
As a supposedly Christian nation the churches should also be heavily inclosed (as I would like to think that many already are) also. After all, could this then not be a part of carrying the Cross of Christ that he requested all of his true followers to carry?

Welfare itself not only does not actually pay anywhere near as well as even middle class jobs do, it also totally detracts from the dignity of living for oneself. Besides which, was it then the choice of the born child to live in such a manner? There are always those that would try to game the system, but I do think they are a minority. And there is nothing wrong with some form of welfare to work program, but if it does not include child care then it is useless, as that cost alone would take just about everything a young woman would make, leaving nothing for the ordinary costs of living.
I would like to think that you are sensible enough to agree that abortions for the cause of the direct mother’s health, and rape, and incest are justifiable. But they too,are a minority of all abortions. I have recently read that abortions in general are decreasing. Perhaps with the kinds of help in such as adoptions and sensible welfare that we are discussing here, we might hope that such acts will become more and more rare naturally in themselves.
I am also all for making it totally illegal to have abortions (with the possible exception of an actual endangerment to the potential mother’s life) in the third trimester of a woman’s pregnancy. It is patently stupid as well as cruel, to be performing abortions on possibly viable babies in one hospital or clinic, while extraordinary measures are being taken in another to save said babies!!
