If not for long range missiles and nukes, we could consider leaving these places alone to fight among themselves. The extreme Islamists are driving the outcomes in all of these nations and we are failing to set an example of a better way. The computer literate among them listen to the dialogue between our parties and read the way we talk to each other on tv and in these forums. They want something better, but the moderates are feeling isolated, the extremists are getting intern’l help. The ‘liberals’ and secular Syrians who have tried to work with the US will be the first to be invited to move here. It happened after Vietnam and when other allies became opponents. The worst part of this is Muslims, like Christians, have members in positions of power who, if they could, would be severely tempted to “help” God/Allah by starting Armageddon. There are others who, believing in nothing, would cheerfully start Armageddon just because they don’t see why the rest of the humans should go on with their lives once “I’M” gone. It is a burden on my spirit, but there comes a time when a civilized nation needs to demonstrate beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are not to be trifled with. This can’t be done with a fencing foil, it has to be heavy handed, and very destructive. 5000 cruise missles devastating every piece of military hardware and infrastructure Syria has could have a chilling effect on Iran’s adventurism. The US military is not a fencing foil, or an arrow. The US military is Thor’s Hammer, Mjolner. We can’t ignore what is happening, but we need to do better than we are.Respectfully,C.

Republicans need to avoid difficult policy areas like foreign affairs. Or economics. Outside their skill set. They should stick to things they can handle – banning abortions, re-closing ACORN, etc.

Night-Gaunt49: There were Christians in Japan too. One of my father’s seminary classmates ran a school in Hiroshima. The largest Christian population at the time was in a town called Nagasaki. The largest church in Asia was “ground zero” there. One bomb test on a central business district, the other on a residential neighborhood. “…humanities without reason and science without morals.” – C.P. Snow

Yes, onguard, Joshua was “peaceful”, the Inquisition was hundreds of years of peacefully torturing and practicing genocide on anyone who opposed the popes. Protestants of course did more Peace with a few hundred years of wars across Europe and into Asia Minor.

Sorry, but over 3,000 years of Jewish and Christian homicidal behavior and greed way outdoes even radical nut-job Islam.

Why isn’t he giving those immigration bids to the Christians he’s displacing by supporting jihadi terrorists.
