Making 20 million more illegal aliens legal is not a concern of just conservatives. Ask any of the Tens of millions of American blue collar workers or middle-class people looking work if this is a good idea. These mostly low-skilled and poor illegals will also be jumping onto Obamacare for subsidized healthcare paid for by us. So less jobs and higher taxes. Yay!
Oh and before the liberal race card dealers start crying, this has Nothing to do with race. Kick out the illegal Irish, German and Englishmen too. Let them get in line.
If you want to end the presence of illegal aliens in the USA, start locking up employers who hire them. Reagan wanted us to end the hiring loopholes when he granted amnesty in the 80’s. (thanks tigger) But a bipartisan group of legislators listened to the cries of their voters and donors who said they needed the labor the illegal aliens were providing so loopholes were installed and here we are again. Americans turning on Americans because our legislature didn’t do their jobs correctly.@ ConservGov – I have nuanced agreement with you, however, without the illegals working for substandard pay in labor intensive jobs in agriculture, chicken/hog factories, and construction, those industries swear they will be unable to find workers. Apparently, Americans want to be paid a reasonable wage especially when doing very hard work. What do you think we can do to make Americans willing to work in fields and chicken factories etc?Respectfully,C.
Yes, it is the companies that hire illegals who need to be targeted, and strongly. That, as well as money being paid under the table, is keeping wages artificially low, and creating the sad reality of multiple families living under one roof. And, too bad if the hog farmers lose profits by having to pay living wages. It is a vile industry and the costs should reflect the carnage.
“You know, you have such a stunningly superficial knowledge of what went on that it’s almost embarrassing to listen to you.” – Z. Brzeninski.^I disagree with almost everything you wrote, Ansonia. Obama would love a bipartisan solution to sign. Joe Arpaio’s behavior is well documented and cases are proceeding through courts. Employee status is to be determined by the employer, not the police; though employers may or may not be made to report illegals who apply for work. I’ve presented my ideas for immigration reform over the last few months/years… what would YOU do? Curiously,C.
