    Ah yes, Independence Day! No one really wants to be independent – Jane, Chelle, Jill, (even Paige) all want to have someone to depend on and, in turn, be depended on. The whole desperate scene somehow reminds me of Shakespeare’s Macbeth:“To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,To the last syllable of recorded time;And all our yesterdays have lighted foolsThe way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,And then is heard no more. It is a taleTold by an idiot, full of sound and fury,Signifying nothing.”

    @wesbuceyBut they’re not as badly off as Mr Macbeth, nor as desperate. With reason: they’re neither traitors, murders, nor tyrants.And last week, it was gays, lesbians, and allies who schlepped the branches of Birnam Wood — all the way to Washington. Hooray!

    It’s Talia, Jane’s college roomie, or somebody she had a crush on in college. It was a case of unrequited love, so Jane can get frosty with Talia. I don’t think Talia has any blame in it, honestly.
