Is this a reference to this “scandal” about some civil service employees questioning 501©4 status of some TeaParty organizations? Someone will have to explain that one to me. 501© status is not allowed for candidate sponsoring organizations, and what else does the TeaParty do? Seems like some pretty low-hanging fruit to me.

@Clark Kent: some of your ideas sound reasonable to me, but those ideas have little to do with the IRS; they just collect taxes.@Varnes: No, we’re not broke. We just have some poor policymakers in Washington.

When you tax income, you get less of it. Get rid of the IRS. Fund the Fed with Tariffs. End the income tax and everyone gets more income.

I wish the rest of the Government would be concerned about getting the public’s trust back. That would be the first sign that we don’t live in an oligarchy. Interesting that some of the countries that are recognized as having an oligarchy style of government include China, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea.

@chasssimmons “501© status is not allowed for candidate sponsoring organizations”

Not true, both types of 501© organizations are allowed to be involved in politics. Just to different degrees.

One of the guys at work had one of Issa’s defective car alarms. It talked all day. Every time a truck went by, or a plane flew over, or a bird landed nearby. Issa may be rich but he is an idiot.

According to tradition, the apostle Matthew was a tax collector and considered an outcast and a sinner ( albeit a wealthy one ) for collecting taxes. Two thousand years haven’t changed anything. We still hate the tax collectors !

“I wonder how long it will be before some ‘genius’ conservative brings in for-profit taxing?”The Romans employed “publicans” to manage many govern operations, including tax collection. The publicans could keep part of the money they collected, so the more, the merrier. They were lumped with sinners in the New Testament. Seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publican

What’s the difference between the IRS and the IRA? One of them is a terrorist organization. The other exists in Ireland.

Wealth isn’t taxed – income is. The “rich” may or may not have taxable income as they hire lawyers, create trusts, make themselves executors of non-profits, etc. “Our” jobs? If you are self employed, it’s your job.

chassimmons: And no one is permitted to mention back in the days of Reagan and Watt when the Sierra Club had their status revoked for spending 2% of their budget lobbying to prevent a dam across Toroweap Point to flood Grand Canyon. That is why the Sierra Club Foundation is a separate operation today.

It’s all legalised theft anyway. The government is broke because they’ve been buying votes through excessive borrowing for decades and now the credit cards are all maxed out. The late Margaret Thatcher summed liberal politics up to a “T” when she said, “the problem with socialism is that , sooner or later, you run out of other peoples’ money.”
