Cheerios. I saw that commercial. LOL

it’s almost hard to believe that would still be controversial in this day and age . . . almost

Mixed-race is so yesterday, now it’s all about same-sex.

How come they don’t mention the President? He’s the product of a mixed marriage.

I’VE SEEN OTHER ADS WITH MIXED RACED FAMILIES,THE CHEERIOS 1 SEEMED TO BE THE ONLY 1 THAT CAUSED ABIT OF A UPROAR.

My daughter is white and married to a wonderful black man. They will be celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary on July 3rd. I don’t understand the controversy about that commercial at all. And I think from the people that come into where I work that it’s almost 50/50 of the marriages where the husband is white and the wife black.

I didn’t understand the controversy surrounding the Cheerios commercial. There have been a ton of interracial couples portrayed in commercials. The kerfuffle was probably just a General Mills strategy to draw more attention to the product.

I’m surprised it happened at all. When the Jeffersons TV show was on, their upstairs neighbors were a mixed raced married couple with kids. I doubt General Mills did it as a commercial strategy. There are quite a few such marriages out there. And not that I’m remembering, back in the 60’s, when on vacation with my family, we met mixed race couple and they were both very nice people.

The same thing happened with “Sesame Street” in 1969 in the deep south… and for some years even after that….

It’s also funny how the technology is supposed to reflect an “age of enlightenment”, yet there’s the irony of this contradiction still in our society… great one today, as usual, Robb!!!

I’m not trying to be funny, seriously I’m not, but I see plenty of commericals on TV nowadays that have mostly Caucasian people on it, but then two black kids mixed in somewhere. It’s awkward and weird

I saw the commercial — loved it, but it had nothing to do with the family’s ethnicity. Saw the controversy — hated it — and those are the same people that keep talking about “family values.” Ugly…

There was a Volkswagen commercial a few years back which showed two young men (one black, one white) driving around; they picked up a cast-off sofa from the sidewalk and put it in the back of the car, which I guess was the point (subsequently, it showed them reacting to some unpleasant smell the piece was giving off, so they dumped it on another corner).

There was certainly nothing explicit about it, but something – maybe the music, maybe their body language, maybe just the fact that both were thin and neatly-dressed – sort of made me assume they were a “couple”, not just roommates.

Again, I don’t necessarily believe it was VW’s intent to feature a young Gay couple in the ad, but if Gay couples perceived it that way and bought Volkswagens as a result, I’m sure the company would have no problem with that. :-)

Did everyone miss today’s news? They are bringing back Jim Crow one gerrymandered voting district at a time. Next, literacy tests in Chinese. The Kochs are getting their money’’s for hiring Scalia and Thomas for all those speeches.

The Supremes giveth and the The Supremes taketh away. Blessed be the decisions of The Supremes.

I think the commercial is cute, and didn’t even think about any of the people’s colors!

I knew a woman once who is white and her husband was black that were the first mixed couple in California to marry.

Guess I missed the commercial. Or wasn’t paying attention.

I loved those Cheerio commercials, I hope they’ll bring them back their really sweet
