the medical profession tries to make decisions on organ replacement on a set of rules, not emotion. By following a strict set of rules, it reducescorruption and favoritism. Maybe we should just have an Amarican Idol type of process, where the most popular or the most sympathetic get the transplants?

    obamacare life panels.

The real issue is this has nothing to do with obamacare. it has to do with complex, life and death rules and organ transplant lists and protocols.perhaps and it should be simplified and available organs be auctioned off to the highest bidder. after all that’s the only fair way to do it, right GOP’rs?

Who really thinks Ms. Sebelius personally made the indivdual decision in this case? How stupid.

Regardless of who is paying the bills, there will be someone tasked with deciding what will be covered and what will not.It could be a government bureaucrat. Right now, it’s an insurance company bureaucrat. Does this make it better?

Putting adult lungs into a child can be problematic in ways that lay people may not consider. The lungs must be made smaller to fit. How will they deal with that? Once they are adult sized, cut down, and inserted into a child, will they grow a with the child, or will they stay the same size?

Making health care policy decisions based on public opinion is like asking fourth-graders to design a space station. Typically, they’ll leave out something important.

Remember Terry Schaivo. Remember they put a baboon heart into Baby Faye. Lots of hoopla. Lots of press conferences. Uh, but baboons live to be less than 20, typically. And they grow to 95 pounds. Who could have guessed that Baby Faye would die?

“Now Doctors are fleeing Obamacare in record numbers.”

Based on what exactly? Ahhhh yes this one question that was asked to physicians by the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, which is filled with crack pots who oppose vacination among other conspiracy theories. But enough about them, here’s the question:

“How do current changes in the medical system affect your desire to practice medicine?”

    I’m re-energized – 4.6% Makes me think about quitting – 82.6% Unsure/no opinion – 12.8%

So apparently “changes to the medical system” = Romneycare, therefor 82.6% of physicians are leaving the practice because of Romneycare. No one is really leaving the practice over the AHA. Quit lying. Now change the subject like you always do like Benghazi or something totally unrelated to your lie.

“wait wait a second you just said that Obamacare will not make medical decisions but a bureaucrat should make one now?”

You are intentionally misquoting me. In the system before Obamacare, it was an insurance bureaucrat deciding who gets what money. In Obamacare it is a government bureaucrat deciding who gets what money. The point is that people, like yourself, who hate the idea tha any government official can be trusted to make any decision, seem to be just fine when a person tasked to keep profits up and benefits down is an insurance bureaucrat instead.

“and it is the doctors who have made the decision that this girl could handle an adult lung. and you are OK with her being rejected?”

Again, you twist my words. I am saying that doctors made the decision to put a baboon heart into Baby Faye. Doctors, believe it or not, sometimes base their decisions on things other than the best interest of the patient. I am not accusing anyone of anything, because I am not a pulmonary specialist. But I am pretty sure that most people who have an opinion have less training than I. My point is that it’s dangerous to make decisions when you do not know the facts. Can we agree on that one simple statement?

“Obamacare death panels”Explain how “Obamacare” (which we’ve already established was originally dreamed up by the conservative Heritage Foundation and endorsed by various Republicans until Obama endorsed it) has anything to do with deciding if a child is put on an adult organ transplant list.

Quite a number in Congress have decided to practice medicine without a license, by writing laws. What has amazed me is that some in Congress who ARE or WERE doctors, have done some of the most dangerous and stupid stuff!! (Coburn leads the pack right now.)

BTW, transplants are still not actually “routine” surgeries, have lots of complications, but the general public seems to think it’s no more than getting dentures or tooth implants. They also seem to think that these surgeries that can cost millions of dollars, with sometimes only a few weeks or months of extended life expectancy shouldn’t have strict guidelines, to manage resources, and see that organs donated are being “best used”.

BTW, yes I carry an organ donor card, and if it works out to save someone’s life, or give them sight, I’m for it, but I hope the medical professionals make the decision, not the press, or some idiot politician.
