Like white males? (e.g., Richard Reid)I have to fly a lot, and i resent this nonsense. This isn’t the point of the cartoon, but the TSA is not keeping us safer. What kept us safer are two things: (1) reinforced doors between us and the pilots, and (2) X-raying baggage, which Bush stalled doing for nearly all his administration. As for these scanners, Adam Savage of the Mythbusters walked through one with two (2) ten-inch metal saw blades he had forgotten to remove from his pockets. No one noticed.

How many thousands of hours of intercepted Al Qaeda chatter do we have recorded, waiting for someone to find time to translate it? Would this be more valuable to sift through than Aunt Theresa’s Gumbo Recipe?

Data is worthless without analysis. Can’t we learn to prioritize?

echoraven: What’s to wonder? Obama has increased the evils of Bush and delivered only a handful of his promises, the latter only partially due to Republican obstruction. All the while Greens are not permitted to be mentioned at all in the corporate media, Socialists are reduced to “Independent” when they get to Congress, and Libertarians self-destruct by sounding like Teabaggers.

Another abuse started by Dubya that GOP will blame on Obama.

During the 2008 Presidential campaign, then Senator Obama said that if GWB’s warrantless wiretapping bill came up for a vote in the Senate, he would come off the campaign trail and lead a filibuster against it. The vote was scheduled. Sen. Obama returned to Washington. Not only did he not lead a filibuster against the bill, he voted in favor of it. Nothing that is happening today should come as any surprise to anyone that pays attention to what goes on in D.C.

Stay in there long enough until your skin cooks a nice crispy brown crust while the rest of you slow-roasts like a chicken on a skewer.

Having worked with, and been trained by FBI, Secret Service and other “intelligence folks”, the TSA ’security" is a joke. The NSA has been doing things for many years, and under Bush/Cheney, FISA courts were deemed by their AGs as “not necessary”. Sadly, too many in both “parties” were willing to burn a lot of the Constitution to keep us “safe”. The real question is, from who?

Does anybody here have the slightest idea of what you are talking about? Does anyone even have an inkling of an idea just what it would take to even monitor, let alone listen to, all of the tens of billions of phone calls made in the USA every single day? Would there even be enough computer storage to store the amount of such messages, let alone enough people to even begin to analyze all of this date to find those people contemplating even out and out terrorism, let alone normal crime?? Would you like to be the one that has to listen (let alone monitor text messages) of literally millions of giggly teen aged girls and boys, if you were not driven stark mad by that, you would soon die of acute boredom. Even our government is not so stupid as to attempt this at the level that some on here think it is. Is everybody here some kind of a governmental conspiracy nut??
