Phoebe:What's your favorite color? Marigold: White! Phoebe: White isn't a color. Marigold: Black? Gray? Phoebe: Not a color. Still not really a color. Marigold: Flurple! Phoebe: I understand your frustration, but work with me.
Black, White and gray are colors Pheebs the fact that unicorns like there own color isn’t there fault. you should have said “of the rainbow” or at least “of the visible spectrum” I hear Flurple used to be a color but unicorns where so envious that they destroyed it, in every place, forever and erased its existence in history. My proof? It no longer exists because it WAS destroyed.
Mixing complimentary colors will also make grey ( red and green or purple and yellow or orange and blue). Mixing them in unequal portions produce greys of various hues. This produces a much greater variety of shades with various depths and values than just black and white. Greying a color pushes it back creating a perception of depth. Flurpie must be Marigolds term for her own personal shade of grey.

And of course, it’s just pure coincidence that Marigold’s first choice happened to be her OWN color
