Still, though, that’s the challenge that people face… it’s the two-sided coin… on the one hand, people can change… but those affected will surely doubt any semblance of that change…..==People can try to move on…. but at what point can they keep showing how they’ve changed, until it can be fully established that they’ve changed?……The question is, who must be satisfied, before one can confirm that a criminal is changed?…..

I only remember one incident where Dirk actually exhibited what I’d call criminal behavior, and that was when he “found” some money in Mrs. Baird’s clock and slipped it into his pocket. In the aftermath of that confrontation, he tried to break Brad’s phone, but then Brad revealed that he’d actually “appropriated” Dirk’s phone, so the phone Dirk broke turned out to be his own.

But wait — how does Brad’s stealthily moving Dirk’s phone into his pocket make him morally superior to Dirk, who stealthily moved money from Mrs. Baird’s clock into his pocket?

Aside from that, Dirk is — or was, at least — “a control freak with anger management issues”, sure. I’d like to see some supporting evidence for calling him a “drug-dealing thug”, though.

Even his controlling behavior was pretty much all directed at Toni, and she wasn’t exactly an unwilling participant back then. She still has, I don’t know, “serf issues”, for lack of a better term. Look at the way she lets Shannon treat her.

Hanabi” sounds a bit like “honeybee”, so beautiful flowers are perfectly apropos.^^I suppose it does…. btw Hanna= flowers Bi/Mi= Beautiful

Have we ever seen Derrick and Dirk together? I’m just sayin’…

But seriously, @IamJayBluE, I hope Toni is growing out of that state, and I do think she understands that Brad will be a much more healthy partner for her. Toni has problems, but the evidence seems to suggest that she knows what they are and how to work on them. My point above was only that Original Dirk wasn’t quite the monster he was being described as.

And speaking of Dirk, Mike Nesmith wants his hat back.

Greg has the time in to consider “end game”Perhaps Luann spends her Senior year as an exchange in Oz. An Auzzie wedding with all cast members in about 15 months with Toni and Brads first child making Shannon a Big Sister would be a great ending. TJ could cater.

In Australia their summer is in January.

Especially the strips…. In effect, you were remembering right, but the drug elements were from “Derek the Druggist” and not “Dirk the Jerk”, though he has had his “law troubles”, just not drug related…..

And it seems like Greg intended to “write him out altogether”, with that last bit of encounter at the store, as a way for Toni to get closure, and for both to finally move on…. but some have brought up the question of “would Toni feel the need to invite him, for whatever reason, to the wedding?” I think that he’s “gone, daddy, gone”, with no need to even think about him anymore, but it doesn’t seem too far gone to think that there would be one last moment or two, at least for story’s sake…..

If so, it really isn’t another strip, it’s the same “Luann”, this is just the way that Greg drew the characters at that time, in ‘85… and it is more like just the “re-running”…. so there wouldn’t have been another strip to read, it’s just labeled that way to help people catch up on and see the progress since Luann first started…

Pirard was very rude to MikeyJ to assume he was spamming. I would not feel the need to apologize to someone who was so rude to me. He could have just pointed out that the link wasn’t working properly.

Why is it so much easier for people to be rude when they could be helpful and kind to each other?

I’d argue that it is often the “little peck” that has more passion! Muscle control! Like the old song says… “it’s in his/her kiss….”

I take what she did with Gunther as a reaction to just having been rescued by him when both where in some danger. I’m amazed she didn’t take Gunther’s face off. This Quill peck is much more subtle and reflects that kind of passion.

There’s all kinds of kiss manuvers…. the one in today’s strip could look like just a peck, but there’s also the “lip rest”… where two lips touch and stay in a “holding pattern”…no moving, just a “lip hug”, or a “lip embrace”, if you will…. the long lasting “frozen in time moment” kind of kiss….so they could also possibly be engaged in that one…..

Definitely am not trying to be paranoid, but in terms of explaining my theory on why it might have happened, to be honest, I’d have to use the novel “1984”: =Any attachment in conversing about the thread could be tied with that, so they did not discriminate, and tried to “clean up” Reed’s, and since you replied, it would look “out of place” without Reed’s…so the subsequent elimination of yours, to “clean up” things, so to speak…. even though you didn’t speak of it ending.. just replying…. and since Lev’s wasn’t until later, his remained….that’s the only explanation I can come up with, at the moment…..
