Most people get more conservative as they get experience and age. But only until they join AARP, then they want their grandkids and great-grandkids to pay for everything.

As smart people mature they wise up to the fact that mommy government will never be the answer to all of societies problems and that hard work and personal responsibility is the answer.

Unless, of course you have a cushy job as a public university professor, then you just relax and continue spewing the liberal mantras.

A few years back, the people at Cadillac realized that the average age of a new buyer was 62. They correctly understood that they were selling a product that would soon be unwanted, and they looked at the competition, re-evaluated the buying public, re-tooled, and recovered.

The Republican Party is like the Cadillac of many years ago. Although their message is a good one, their actions belie their stated purpose. And as many of us grow older, we get to see the games and deceit, and reject it.

The Republicans are working hard to change the presentation, but if you put the same wine in a new bottle, it still tastes the same. The party is at a crisis point, where they will have to find a different direction or die. It is interesting to watch how they react to this; I hope they are smarter than they appear, as one-party rule is not attractive.

I recommend one thing for them: do not continue to require lockstep purity of ideology. This will necessarily reduce the number of people allowed into your tent. The more ideologically pure the party, the more the members feel attachment. However, the more people you turn away, the more people will feel that you do not choose to represent them.

ahab: We do, but the corporate media is not permitted to mention them. Especially if they file against the leader of the flat earth block on the Texas State Board of Education. Only the League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote would admit we exist. And while we are at it, give the LWV back their presidential debates that the Republicrats stole from them..

Hey, I know. Let’s pay men more than women for the same job. Then protect men after they indiscriminately rape and abuse women. Then deport anyone (man OR woman) that doesn’t look like us. Also, teach superstition as science, and revisionist history. Don’t forget to ignore the constitution and teach bigotry and exclusion. What could possibly go wrong?

I remember when communists were the enemy. Then socialists were the enemy. Then liberals were the enemy. Now RINOs are the enemy. Soon you’ll have a party of one — but it will be pure.

HAHAHAHAHA! Funny. Since anyone following politics for the past twenty years knows that the GOP has purged anyone REMOTELY resembling a “moderate Republican,” let alone a RINO. My God, Orrin Hatch had to kowtow to the Tea Party Right-wingnuts. The total paralysis in Congress now is a combination of the fanatics like Ted Cruz who thinks, like you, that compromise is death — instead of it being HIS JOB; weasels like Boehner who has no real values except for keeping his own job and so cannot hold his own (if any); and McCain, who is consistently one of the most conservative Senators (average rating 73% but up to 100% on some ratings: http://senator-conservative-ratings.findthedata.org) but operates out of bile and hate instead of thought.Honesty? Transparency? Virtue? Not in these people! You’d have to throw them all out and start over! And by the way, your vicious and violent language in describing YOUR FELLOW AMERICAN CITIZENS has not gone unnoted.
