Observations:Burl is not a retired baby.Sue has 24 hours to make a miraculous recovery.Ham loaf ain’t Spam. It’s got a lot of fillers and extenders in it, like meat loaf. And I doubt there is any ham in one made at the Pennys.X, don’t go talkin’ trash about no Spam!

The sad hing is, some people make “ham” loaf OUT of Spam…. or even spam-like generic canned meat products.

Grind it up with bread and eggs and onions, and bake it…cos there aren’t enough “extras” in it already.

Joy is going to use a 45¢ stamp to send another on a stamped, self-addressed envelope… to get a dollar back from Kleenex.

    If the envelopes cost less than 5¢ each….oh yeah…. Burl steals ‘em from work….so she’s ahead….by 10¢

I think it’s more likely a self-inflicted wound necessitating a trip to the hospital would be a desperate attempt to AVOID a ham loaf from Joy.

    Good morning!

I never heard of ham loaf. I know about meat loaf, veal loaf, and pickle loaf, but not ham loaf. Do I detect a bit of jealousy in his voice? lol

Well, Burl is a loafing ham…..but I can’t see Joy going to all that trouble (and expense) for Sue. What she calls a “ham loaf” is positively terrifying to think of.

Yes, Susan. The point being that (as we know the level of cooking knowledge and especially the cleanliness of their kitchen, we would more likely go to ANY extreme to AVOID eating anything concocted by Joy.

Is there a health risk connected with throwing up when you are wearing a neck brace? Sounds life threatening to me.

I too have as ham loaf recipe, The relative who gave it to me shall remain nameless:

2 cups of chopped ham12 cup chopped onion1/4 cup brown sugar1 teas ground cloves1 packet plain knox gelatin

combine all except gelatin, melt gelatin in a cup of hot water, and pour over the ham mix. Refriderate until set, unmold, slice and serve over chopped lettuce. Add a dollop of mayo on top.

I’ve never made it. I presume its the same one Joy uses?

    Gosh…. thank you Becky!

Just came in to say that neither of the ham loaf recipes so kindly posted here could possibly be in Joy’s repertoire.

The proof is that they both contain actual ham.

And I’m sure 12 cups of onions could only serve to improve Joy’s recipe.

She’ll either make her baked version out of imitation Treet, or her molded refrigerator loaf, with off-brand turkey “ham” lunchmeat, lime Jello and sliced, dollar store pimiento-stuffed olives.

When I say molded…. I don’t mean it’s moldy… yet…but she did buy that lunch meat in March.Expiration dates are only a guess, you know.

You are correct Susan, I wondered if someone has a recipe that substitutes ground hot dogs for the ham, plus bacon drippings would be closer to Joy’s cook book. then maybe apply Burl’s secret BBQ sauce and bingo, ham loaf fit for a king….that is the king of the Penny throne.
