Genuine fake is always the best. Just like their concern for one another. Genuine. Fake.

    “Faux” is the new “fake”.

    They think “man-made” means “hand-made.”

We all know the finest synthetics are hand made…

Often shaped by the same hands that stir up all that “Old fashioned Home-made Carrot Cake” in the freezer section….

Mmmm… calcium propionate, just like Grandma’s recipe.

They forgot to add to all manmade materials “exquisitely assembled in the far east”

In some countries, labeling is worse. Seda in Spanish means silk, but you can buy clothing that is labeled “seda” that is actually “silky” (acetate, polyester, rayon or whatever). I like my upper bedlinens (top sheet and pillow slips to be silk but I have to search “mulberry silk” to be sure.

Hmmmm… Looks like the same bag Joy always carries. I wonder if she got tired of it and passed it off to Verla as a BD present. Oh, look at the TAG, it’s GOT to be new! But wait — Joy never takes the tags off anything, so . . .

@Purple- she probably bought a gross at a deep discount (like the GBWOF). She’d give those as gifts too, but it’s her “signature look”.

I understand fols like Dunes wanting man-made. I still love real leather and real fur too. I like knowing that I can make my own shoes. These also have silk thread and cultured pearls. The embroidery (for front of a purse is goldwok style with more cultured pearls and 1 bead of Lapis.

Sewing fur, though (even faux) is a pain and it gets in eyes and nose (fly-away bits as you sew).

I heard on NPR yesterday that McDonald’s new egg white breakfast is specifically cooked on the grill so it will look “home made” and that turkey meat (Armour? Hormel?) is being made in such a way that processed meat looks as if it was hand carved off the bird.

Everything is being messed with nowadays. Kids are coming up with more and more allergies, because our food is ‘modified’ to repel bugs, our clothes give us rashes and make us feel sick, because of the toxins they add to the fibers to make them feel like the real thing. Products are being made out of lord knows what synthetic material. Schools are scrambling to keep up with all the peanut allergies and are now carrying epi-pens. Yikes!

@2Old, My doctor was surprised that my original blood work was as shown because I admitted to having meat of some kind every day and drinking every day. And that there was so little change in the next blood work (veg. and no drinking from 2/14 – next tests 4/25). I actually had higher cholesterol. He had added supplements DHEA and TMG and I told him then that I don’t think either of those are good for my situation (both can raise cholesterol).

We all have to take charge of our health as we are bombarded with toxins from every side. When I did eat meat, I only had red meat once a week and next year it will be like once a month and always grass fed VERY low fat (I love a good filet mignon) and if I use ground beef I buy is of the best low fat variety. I also buy turkey breast of free range (organic when possible) and roast myself with fresh herbs and white wine. The worst part is carving it but I cool first and then freeze servings in an acrylic tub with little bits of hard shell packaging separating them. I’m not good enough at gardening to grow my own vegetables but I shop carefully and wash things well.

@Gym, My daughter bought me a “Prada” bag when she was in Hong Kong. It’s leather, but that doesn’t matter to me in purses (they seldom touch my body so a pleather one from Target that is sized and fitted to my needs is what I buy). To me the other looks like a knock off from a mile away and it’s useless! The flat shoes that I made are so comfortable that I can wear over rough ground or concrete malls and also in the gym for work out. In addition to 1/4" leather soles, I use Sholes inserts of good foam and replace if soiled.
