If it is #2, then expect the “unpleasant” events including droughts, floods, frost killed crops on a massive scale, etc. and not be able to do a darn thing about it. You see the warming poles make the jet streams more extreme and erratic, which in turn affect weather. Humans might change it within a century. Astronomical events may take thousands of years. Call me an opptimist, but I am cheering for #1.
P.S. we just had a near frost event a half month after warm weather crops were planted. That’s most of what people eat bud.

And that had man not (like volcanoes) set some of it free again we might probably now enter another longer lasting ice age than the last ice age light from about 1300 til 1750? To my best knowledge cutting down rainforests contribute more to devastation of Earth than burning oil. Only one thing seem so be sure: Neither of us will problably live long enough to see if the new ecology-religion is right. At the moment it seems ready to put everyone to the stake who will not unquestionably confirm to its doctrines (and so far it is but doctrines – sorry!!)

The increased acidity has already profoundly affected marine ecosystems – and it is almost entirely due to increased human CO2 output (although a volcano belches a prodigious amount of CO2 during an eruption) . Some scientists have even suggested dumping tons of lime into the ocean in an attempt to offset it.
But it would be much safer to just cut back on the CO2. I personally favor micro-nuclear reactors.

Certainly, man has done some changes to the earth. So has every other species that burst in population. Sea plankton, dinosaurs, mammals. The one sure thing on this earth is change. The more we try to keep it from happening, it just gets worse. Maybe, China was right with their one child policy.Lets go back and blame antibiotics. They have allowed many children to survive and keep the old alive – If I were 40 years younger, I would have died in my 20s of pneumonia, as would many more.
Good point! This is exactly like smoking and cancer. If true, the tobacco industry takes a hit, so deny, deny, deny. If anthropogenic global warming is true then all industry takes a hit. For God’s sake DENY AT ALL COSTS!
