One of our dogs used to play fetch for one. He would drop his tennis ball down a flight of stairs, run to get it, then go back to the top and drop it again.

Fetching is a trait called ball drive. Dogs either have it or they don’t. It’s the basis for training military and law enforcement working dogs. Neither of our two dogs fetch. If we throw a ball or stick, they just follow the arc and look back at us, saying, “If you want that thing back, you need to go get it yourself.”

    : D Poncho wearing a falconry gauntlet… with a trained eagle… best picture ever!

And as I was curious enough to look up trained eagles, I learned that Poncho (with an eagle) would be called an austringer.
