    The bottom line is, Mother Nature has had it. Mother Nature is royally PO’ed, and she’s letting us know it.

    Time to take the hint and clean up the environment.

    All those people who were injured, some very badly, and all those people who lost everything they owned, that is awful. On top of that, many middle-class people are now plunged into the needy and deserving poor. And the extremists call the poor “lazy bums”! and “freeloaders”, and say “I don’t work to support others” are waiting a brief time, then will be saying it just as loud. The difference is only that some of these poor stricken people will not be saying it anymore. They are not lazy! They are not "freeloaders! We were told to LOVE our Neighbors and treat others the way we would like others to treat us! THINK ABOUT IT

    Nature does not respect political parties, or their positions. At times like these, we will see who cares about their fellow man. Will we be willing to help, or will this be just too expensive? Will we cut spending on tanks we are only making to provide people in Ohio with work? Was former-senator Ted Stevens willing to exchange the Bridge to Nowhere to help Katrina victims? This promises to be educational.

    Technically, Nature isn’t a “terrorist” (what with not having an agenda or anything….) but it sure can be an “enemy.” I can’t believe how terrible the damage was. It really breaks your heart.

    While the severity of such storms HAS increased, as predicted several decades ago with climate change, it might be noted the native tribes knew better than to depend on permanent structures across the plains in “tornado alley”.

    @capnLaz

    Seriously, Cap’n? You’re comparing global warming, which 97% of climatologists agree is happening right now, to The Wizard of Oz?

    Now, THAT’S entertainment.

    A tornado is just like a terrorist is what he is saying.It kills any and all. Has no mercy and does not give a damn how much you pray for it to go away.His art is perfect. Exactly what a tornado is. If you have never been in one thank your lucky stars.To those of us who have been in them, chased them, seen the aftermath of their passing, you know what I am talking about.Leave the politics behind, the environment behind, think of the song by Deep Purple- StormbringerRainbow shaker on a stallion twister,Bareback rider on the eye of the sky.Stormbringer coming down meaning to stay,Thunder and Lighning head your way.Ride the rainbow, CRACK the skyStormbringer coming, TIME TO DIE.Got to keep running, Stormbringer coming.He’s got NOTHING you NEEDHe’s gonna make you BLEED!"If that aint a terrorist I don’t know what is. Have a child walk up to you with her dead dog in her hands covered in blood and mud wanting you to make it better.Then post your damn politics.

    If we, Homo sapiens, do not get our act together and address the issues involved with climate change—agricultural, industrial, and consumer waste and pollution and the fecundity of our species (to name a few)—then Mother Nature will do it for us Her way…and it will not be pretty. No God required.

    On the other-hand: If God wrote the scriptures and created Mother Nature, then the two cannot be in conflict. Therefore this is all Gods doing. Bad guy…or just sending us an ‘early warning’ message?

    Meanwhile…back in Sewertown D.C., these same Oklahoma senators are receiving lifetime SOCIAL benefits that you and I pay for! Lifetime pay, even AFTER they leave office! Lifetime health care even AFTER they leave office! All the while, they do the campus lecture circuit and receive $30,000 to $60,000 per lecture. Politics. Poly, meaning: MANY and tic meaning: BLOOD SUCKING PARASITE.

    I wonder what type of news the storm would have made if, at the same intensity, it followed that path, 5, 10, 15 or 20 years before those houses were built?

    These storms were not a well kept secret. America needs to help the people rebuilt, including the bridge that collapsed in Washinton. Part of the reason you and I pay taxes.

    OK has had ever increasing storm activity and damage over the past 20 years. Why do folk keep rebuilding there? Maybe underground bunkers would be better housing….

    I stand corrected, Churchill. However, the current science really can’t determine the impact of climate change here, as there is currently no way to actually report the true number of tornados.

    http://www.wunderground.com/climate/extreme.asp

    Why take the chance of ignoring the probability of climate change? There IS evidence that it’s increasing the kinds of storms that are the cause of flooding. And why overpopulate an area known for producing some nasty tornados, climate change driven or not? Why not at least look at the benefits of below ground level houses? Here are some cool ones:
