You are either really ignorant or you just like to live outside of reality.
As you know, Republicans were all for the Sandy Relief Bill but told the Dems that they can’t jam in a bunch of pork not related to Sandy into the bill or it would be vetoed.
Of course the Dems didn’t care and loaded it up with pet projects in the Midwest and favors to donors on the West Oast.
And now the Republicans want to hold up relief for our citizens in Oklahoma unless “offsets” (meaning cuts in spending for things the Republicans don’t like such as health spending for poor women and an impartial news agency) are made. This when people have no homes, no food, only clothing they had on last Monday, and when the Republicans in question are well-fed participators in the public trough.
Some of us will remember that during Gov. Jindal’s reply to a State of the Union he acted as if the proposal for an early-warning system for volcanoes was the dumbest waste of money ever devised. (Of course, soon after, we had a volcano in Washington state start blowing stuff, which helped to solidify the position of the Republicans as the Party of Stupid). I’m afraid that some people believe that if a project doesn’t have as its main purpose the ability to kill people anywhere in the world, it has no value. I’d let them have their fun if it wasn’t so costly that we have to sacrifice important investments in our own country and in our own people in order to be able to wave our penises in a threatening manner.
Simple fact; Republicans, notably Inhofe and Coburn, have called for cuts to NOAA and other agencies studying climate change impacts, as well as causes, as well as eliminating those silly tsunami warning systems that don’t impact Oklahoma.
