Ohman makes a good point. Obama’s so above the fray that he comes across as robotic and aloof. In fact, he IS robotic and aloof—qualities which make for a poor executive.
Come on. I am pro-elitist. I want elite teachers, doctors, executives, etc. etc. Elite is good.
And the fact that Obama is super smart has nothing to do with his ability to lead. Bill Clinton was super smart but also knew how to motivate with a potent combo of intimidation and charm.
I’ll avoid commenting on GWB’s intellect, but will point out how effective his potent combo of intimidation and charm was in getting his opposition to do his bidding.
I used to believe that one day a spark would land in Obama’s pants and he’d start to whip everyone into shape and stand on the mountaintop and move us to do something other than THIS. But the sad truth is that he’s a bit of a social dud and can’t motivate his allies, let alone a dogged opposition.
All the brilliance in the world won’t change that.
