Val: Girls, you have to remember that when you text, post or email... Val: You can never assume ANY of it will be private!! Val: So don't hit SEND until you've asked yourself, "Is this true? Is it kind? Is it NECESSARY??" Alix: Holly's not going to need her internet access anymore.

She forgot, “Is this something I want the WHOLE WORD to see? Including my own grandchildren, because it will NEVER GO AWAY!!”

It’s a good thing to remember before we open our big mouth, Is it true, is it necessary and is it kind?

I don’t think Holly likes Mom’s ‘sage wisdom’. She looks almost bored to tears in the last panel. Alix best watch her comments for she will be in for a batch of Mom’s wisdom herself. Both girls desire a ‘DiNozzo’ head slap to bring them back to reality.

@robinjhislop: not sure what the original source is, but I have heard that phrase primarily in connection with Mennonites. I’m not religious, but I have greatly enjoyed having Mennonite neighbors.

Dear Abby (the original one, or her twin sister Ann Landers, forget which) used to tell her readers to think through those three questions. Wise words.

If Holly doesn’t learn a valuable lesson from this, I’ll be disappointed.

In first grade (at least I think it was first grade), I was taught THINK:
Is it true?
Is it helpful?
Is it inspirational?
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?
“And what does that all mean, kids? It means THINK before speaking.”
