First of all, Roger, any man with half a functioning brain cell knows never to answer that question — and certainly knows enough to quit when he’s ahead if he is dumb enough to answer it. And second, Andy — why do women always ask men that question when they know full well that they don’t really want to know the honest answer? If you want to know whether something makes you look fat, ask one of your female friends, and leave us poor men out of it!

If Roger were smarter, he’s explain that he was using the word “phat”.

Andy looks fat?? Must be the mirror.

Gads, I HATE this stereotype! If I ask my husband how an outfit looks on me, I expect an honest answer. (HOW honest an answer depends on how much coffee he’s had.) I would rather hear from him “That doesn’t look good” than have him lie to me, then go out looking sloppy. If you don’t want an honest answer…don’t ask the question.

K.C. – exactly. I expect my husband to tell me if something makes me look like a sausage with breathing problems. And he does.

ROGER!!! When a woman asks that question, you simply say “No, dear, you look wonderful. I really don’t know how you do it.” Never mind the fact that you’re picturing the words GOODYEAR emblazoned across her. :)

A woman at work once asked me if the pants she was wearing made her butt look fat. I said, “No; all the ho-hos you eat make your butt look fat.”

Roger thinks that he himself looks like Brad Pitt or Viggo Mortensen. Pay no mind to his opinion of anyone else’s looks.

I asked my aunt what to do in this situation, and she said to tell the woman she doesn’t look fat under any circumstances.

I don’t bother asking my husband, I’ve figured out the thinks I look hot no matter what. If I asked him he’d just muss up my clothes by trying to take them off.

You really stepped into that one, Roger, and now you pay the price.

“Honey, do these pants make my butt look fat?”

“No, honey, your butt makes the pants look fat.”

Yup—I’ll second all the comments above about honest opinions and quitting while you’re ahead.

This one made me laugh, though, due to Roger’s sheer ineptitude with his last comment to Andi, along with the visuals in the last panel. Fun.
