Most recent plumbing issue was a leak in the AC drip line through the garage ceiling. Fixing the leak wasn’t the problem, it was the 2 holes hubby cut in the drywall ceiling, trying to find said leak, that he never fixed. Fast forward a year and we now have plastic garbage bags taped to the ceiling and mice living in the insulation under the house. Hey DAZZ you busy this weekend? ;-)
@JKiss,I have actually patched fairly large areas in drywall when younger (and could still do that at 75) but your hubby (or you)should not have too much trouble. Hopefully he cut them square enough that you can cut a piece to match. The walls and ceiling that I’ve patched did not have too much depth behind but it IS necessary to fill the space behind so the patch can fit (but not fall thru).
Once the patch is in place, just fill all around it with Spackle (the premixed in a can is easiest for small jobs) and fill almost to surface. A second coat after that it dry should finish and level it off. I hope that was helpful.
