Running is often used as a metaphor or overcoming adversity, but then again it might be referring to something in real life as well.

Now I wanna look up Pistorius. Haven’t heard anything lately about that story.

Lovely poem, but this time, I do have a problem with the way it’s written. Not only does it not scan properly (even I can tell that the meter of the entire poem is completely ruined in the third and seventh lines), but it also destroys the ABAB CDCD rhyme scheme that was supposedly set up from the first line of the first stanza. Perhaps Wiley should go back to Poetry Writing 101 after all!

This is a tribute to our wounded warriors! Yesterday was Military Appreciation Day.

Wiley is a pre-historic poet. He is one of the inventors of poetry. His form is archaic and represents the fourth interglacial period.

I’m pretty sure that this is a reference to the Boston Marathon Bombings. After all lead times for comic strips are such that a current event like that couldn’t be put into a comic strip for weeks. There’s a bit of irony here since if I’m not mistaken (and I might be) all of the people who suffered amputations as a result of the bombings were members of the crowd watching the finish not the runners themselves.
