After this weeks nothingburger in Congress the media, particularly fox news, continues to push this story in the absence of any actual evidence backing up the spurious allegations. We even saw republican members of Congress attempt to correct the testimony of their own whistleblowers.

Incorrect, the media didn’t cover the break in at the Watergate. In that case the evidence led to the investigation by the media. Here it’s working backwards, we have media, again largely fox, deciding that there must be a scandal and trying to make it appear so through repetition.

Jeez, I avoid the popstream news and still see the word “Benghazi” at least 300 times every day.

time for all the republican revisionists to come out and claim Watergate was about the media. wrong. President Nixon ordered the breakin, then ordered the coverup. the first a crime, the second a crime to coverup the first crime.in bill Clintons impeachment the alleged crime was lying under oath (something the republicans seem to like in republicans – along with marital infidelity, but find intolerable in democrats).in the case of benghzai, there is NO crime. lying and covering up a non-criminal incident, is not a crime. but the republicans are hoping that like the birthers et al…. that this time the distinction will be lost on the public.I suggest anyone who comments on this watch the hearings on cspan. in case you don’t know, cspan is a protector of our democracy by having non-editorial cameras rolling during the hearings, no commercials, no commentators, just raw original source feed, where you can observe for yourself and listen to the testimony.btw, Watergate wasn’t a witch hunt, because there were crimes committed.

I guess Obama just kind of accidentally used the phrase “acts of terror” in a speech specifically about the Benghazi incident. I mean just because the whole speech was specifically about the incident, that doesn’t mean that he was talking about it or anything. It was a kind of random comment, like about the weather or something. No connection.

I can easily imagine that the Obama administration is capable of a cover-up. I don’t trust any politicians farther than I can see them. But I just don’t see the evidence here. I think the right is so desperate to get Obama (and to score one for their side after Watergate and Iran-Contra) that they will just make things up when there’s really nothing there. Some people seem to have seen too many super-power movies — Batman would have been there in a minute, why couldn’t the Air Force just fly there instantly and bomb everything?
