As part of the class warfare being practiced in our country, there seems to be an opinion that 47% percent of Americans are represented by the man in the cartoon. People with a sense of entitlement demanding ‘gifts’ from the gov’t.Most of the people that I KNOW who are on disabiity and at least half of those who are looking for regular work, are conservative republicans. They are anti abortion and anti gay and pro guns. They are also unemployed because their jobs migrated and they can’t find new work, others are disabled for accidents that occured either on or off the jobs. If it happened on the job, they’re doing ok… not great, but ok. If it happened off of the job, they live in a limbo of paperwork and doctor appointments.Very few people WANT to stay at home and do nothing. It effects their pride, their sense of self worth, the way they perceive their neighbors look at them, but they lack the education or training to do work they could actually do and the gov’t no longer has the money to train people to overcome their disabilities. The “Job Creators” aren’t even creating jobs for healthy young people, why would they want to hire disabled old people? This is a cruel cartoon as it shines an overbright light on a symptom without illuminating the problem. Some of the busiest people I know are retirees. After they weren’t having to work for their money, they started volunteering at hospitals, schools, museums, etc etc. It is a shame to throw away a perfectly good mind, just because the body isn’t as strong as it once was.Respectfully,C.
If tax cuts on the rich worked, there would be jobs available now. The stimulus ended, and the jobs it created have ended. It’s time for the GOP to step up and create jobs, it knows exactly how to do it (there were bipartisan stimulus packages under Reagan, Bush I, and Bush the lesser).
Here’s a story you’ll love: A state senator in Tennessee has come up with a brilliant idea: if a child whose family gets government benefits performs poorly at school, benefits are reduced 20%. Tell that hungry kid that he gets to be more hungry, and that his family knows it’s all his fault. Do we raise taxes of non-dependent families when school performance is poor? Talk about class warfare….and before you go whining about these people being takers, keep in mind that maximum benefits in Tennessee are $168 per month. Want to re-think the idea that this makes them so happy that they wouldn’t think of trying to get a job?

Obama’s mission is to ensure the benefits never stop, so I think he has nothing to worry about… He’ll never have to work again.
