I didn’t know women didn’t like the three stooges and stallone movies until i grew up and started dating. My poor mom had 4 sons and no daughters. All my cousins are guys too except for 1.
As a woman, I would watch Parker, but not Jack Reacher. I have read the books the movies are based on. There is no way that Tom Cruise can be Jack Reacher. That was a poor choice by the studios.
I am sorry but I feel that Tom Cruise was poor in this movie, I mean really, who would be scared of him. And the line in the movie, “Who could kill someone with one punch?” does not bring him to mind.
I like some slap stick, but not ‘overboard’ like the three stooges. As for action movies, my wife loves them as much as I do – guess I’m lucky that way (recently watched Iron Man III, Oblivion, Star Trek Into the Darkness and Jack Reacher with her).
I’m a “chick” and I hate about as many chick flicks as action movies. Good writing surpasses genre. Bad writing is bad writing and not worth two hours of my time.
and what is wrong with the Three Stooges? I spent Saturday afternoons with their re-runs and the same with Laurel & Hardy. Then about four years ago – I had New Year’s Day all to myself and there was a Three Stooges marathon on AMC. It was a good day.(Life of Pi was amazing. ParaNorman, cute. Adventures of Tin Tin was cool. UP! a tear jerker. and George Clooney looks good in everything!)

I, too, have read all the Lee Child books and couldn’t imagine Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, but he did a good job and I liked the movie.

I don’t think most women appreciate slap stick “comedy,” or a whole lot of action movies. Some are ok.
