Republicans don’t have a deficit obsession, they have an Obama obsession. They will do anything to damage Obama, even if it damages the country in the process. The deficit became an obsession only after Obama was elected and re-elected. -Bush eliminated a budget surplus, fought two wars without paying for them, passed a stimulus, and enacted Medicare Part D, also with no payment.-Paul Ryan, the biggest deficit hawk? He voted for all of them. So did virtually all Republican legislators.-Republicans do not want there to be an economic recovery. They want high unemployment. Anything that makes the president look bad, they’re for. Anything that makes the president look good, they’re against.-The recent gun control legislation? It had broad support even among Republican voters. Was that important? NO! What was important was that it was a ‘defeat for Obama’.

“Bring out your dead!”With a nice bottle of Chianti and some fava beans..(sorry, mixing 2 movies and getting a little off topic. The story about Jamestown was rather off-putting).

we don’t need deficits for an economic recovery. Clinton raised taxes and cut spending to balance the budget; resulting in the mid-90’s economic boom.

Unfortunately both parties seem more interested in scoring points than fixing the issues, but the Republicans are definitely far worse than the Democrats. This comes from an ex-Republican! They seem utterly incapable of dealing with facts. Real, honest facts. I blame them and Fox (idiot) News.

Everyone who has posted this far have been right! Sometimes the right is on the left!. Up until Obama, president and congress worked things out, usually for the people. lWhen I heard the traitor McConnel say he was going to get every GOP to do all they can to hurt Obama, to make him fail, that crazy idea had NEVER before happened. Legislators Work Things Out.!! Obama bent over backwards more than halfway, but the GOP would only take 100% their own way. They are all traitors to our whole Nation.

I hope that back-fires for them. They can’t win a fair fight, they may be able to cheat their way in. I know that the Koch brothers are trying to buy up newspapers to spread anti-Obama propaganda.

Please tell me how those that are wealthy are not paying their “fair share” again?-——-I’ll try, with a hypothetical example..If an individual has a net income of $5,000,000 and pays $5,000 in income tax, that is 0.1%, correct? .A second individual has a net income of $30,000 and pays $3,000 in income tax; that is 10%, correct?.A third individual has a net income of $12,000 and pays $270, which is 2.25%, correct?.Now let’s take a look at the total income tax collected, $8,270. The ratio as applied to these three individuals computes as follows..The first individual paid 60% of the total; the second individual paid 36.3% of the total; and the third individual paid 3.3% of the total..Looking at percentages of total income, who paid their “fair share”?

FLAT TAX = fair.My 10 % = your 10%, but the amount paid differs. The 47% who don’t pay taxes get a LARGE refund from the government for their support.

The president of France proposed taxing the rich. Only one problem, most of the wealthy in France left for Switzerland and other low-tax countries, which did not leave many rich people just standing idly by waiting to fork over the high taxes. Also, corporations do not pay taxes. They just pass the taxes on to the customers in the form of higher prices. Those who advocate high corporate taxes will only be shooting themselves in the foot.

    Point taken: English.

Funny how I originally had “English” in my post but removed it and replaced it with “British” since I usually harp on about the difference between “English” and “British” and I didn’t want it pointed out to me. Out by a hundred years. Hoisted on my own petard.Urg…

They file a tax return to get a refund of money they didn’t put in. Example: Earned Income Credit, single head of house, etc. They DO get refunds—-even prisoners in jail get govt money.
