If it was a funnel-web spider, he’d have been in trouble

Now, was it a harvestman or a cellar spider? Both are called “Daddy long legs”, but only one of them is actually a spider.(My house is riddled with cellar spiders. Apparently, they eat all the other spiders.)

Did chubby Young Master actually somehow manage to bypass the arachnid (whichever variety it actually was) without harm to himself or to it? Bravo!

I have crawled through so many nasty ceiling spaces and dark attics in my past work (with just a flashlight). Encounters with plenty of creatures that I’d rather not think of. (and then there were all the conversations that I overheard through those suspended ceilings). How can folks not know when there is someone crawling above them?

I have funnel web spiders and they are harmless. I believe it is the Australian ones that are poisonous , fatally so. I could be wrong. Then I also think they funnel web spiders around Keremeos (in BC) are the poisonous ones. It has been z long time since I had to do the research on this. Why? Because I found the webs in my garden and needed to know.

The venom of a daddy long legs is fatal but their fangs are too short to puncture our skin.

I’m glad it’s morning because I’m an arachnophobe. I have a yard sale to take my attention.

Ah, yes—this reminded me of the old acronym to help remember classifications of animals …

Kings Play Cards On Fat Green Stools.

(Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.)

It’s a miracle I remember this from so long ago.
