    I’ve had cats whose nails didn’t shed naturally as they aged. I cut them, and they were amazingly passive about it.

    I have no clue why. I don’t look gift horses in the mouth.

    This reminds me of when my oldest has to be tested for strep. When she was 7, she struggled so hard, we needed 2 nurses and I to hold her down just to get a swab from her throat. It was embarrassing. (Now I just bribe her with candy. :-))

    My vet also told me that as kitties get older, they don’t always shed the nails as much, so they need to be clipped.

    Once a year, I take my oldest cat to the vet for a claw trim. Every 2 or 3 years, I take her to get shaved.
