@Ms Ima the problem is people like you can’t see that for all the hoopla about terrorists killing Americans, you and your loved ones are more likely to be the victim of an American with a gun.
So if the problem is crazy people…what is the solution? Would some group be calling for mandatory screenings by psychiatric professionals? How often? How is it paid for? Who gets to interpret the results? What about a mandatory chip placed inside everyone’s head to “stop” them if it detects “crazy”? Would you let me design it? Trust me…
With the nation currently unable to afford to properly treat the many veterans with PTSD and TBI, and with our healthcare system unable to care for hundreds of thousands of people with mental health disabilities, how is the gov’t expected to deal with Americans who are “crazy”. One way is for mental health professionals to be able to put a note that a patient of theirs should own a gun, but without a background check, there is no way to prevent that from happening anyway.@ Ima – if the ONLY problem with violence in America is mental health, how do YOU suggest we address the problem? Hospitals are already doing ‘patient dumping’ in order to make room and save money. How would you fix this problem of crazy people and their weapons?
Do you seriously think you can “solve a problem” that exists because of human frailty and ignorance. And surely you don’t think the people in Congress have any clue.
“A pressure cooker is simply a pot unless it is USED for making a bomb.”
The problem is that a pressure cooker is meant to be used as cooking device, not a killing device. A gun on the other hand, has no practical use other than to hurt, maime, or kill a person.
“…the city of Boston was put under marshall law looking for a teenager.”
You obviously don’t remember the D.C. Sniper then.
We would all be better off if we ignored the trolls (Ms. Ima, HOWGOZIT, Gore Bane, Brandon, etc.) … all they do is spew the same one-and-two-line bulsit on each page — rants that get under the skin of right-minded people … consider that either (1) none of them care any more than to hit-and-run like most who spray grafitti on any blank space, and don’t really care what anybody thinks, or (2) some right-wing/Tea Party sugah dadda pays them to spew this garbage, making them low-life freeloaders, just as they accuse everybody who actually employs actual thought processes before posting on the Internet.
I would be VERY interested to see a DD214 proving more than three months of honorable service from any of these right-wing trolls … but I expect that could never happen …
Just a couple of cents from a 20-year USMC (Ret) who earned a master’s degree in something other than a redneck agenda …
So what is the real problem? The crazy murderer with a gun, a crazy murderer with a pressure cooker IED, a crazy person with a knife, a crazy person with a baseball bat, a crazy person with a brick? See the one link in these scenarios? A lib can’t..She’s right, let’s put the crazies in jail, starting with anyone who thinks Ms. Ima isn’t.
Because in Colorado they caught the killer immediately. Are you so seriously uninformed that you didn’t know that? Or are you just loading the question with selected “facts” to support a ridiculously stupid argument?
“Not all Conservatives are stupid, but most stupid people are conservative.”Now give those same stupid, conservative people firearms and watch the innocents perish. And anyone who uses terms like “egotistical butt wipe” and “moron” to describe someone making a very cogent argument doesn’t have the moral or intellectual standing to try and silence him (or her). You are the living, mouth-breathing proof of what Omnius is talking about.
Yes, but with most other weapons you must be within arm’s reach of the person you are assaulting, giving them at least the possibility of confronting you and defending themselves. With a gun you can kill at a safe and truly cowardly distance.
I’m curious, can you state a single instance where a gun specifically saved the life of a loved one?I’m curious simply because you go out of your way to make that point, which has a real b.s. feel to it.

You know, Ima, that would have been a perfectly civil and interesting comment without that last sentence….

Not assault guns — semiautomatic pistols.

The biggest danger in America is white kids with guns. They are the mass murderers.
