Transcript:
Thrice Pulitzer-Snagging New York Times Columnist Tom Friedman has a question for the Boston Marathon Bomb Brothers: (If you were upset with the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, why didn't you go out and build a school in Afghanistan to strengthen that community?) That's right, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan-your awesome school would have driven out the invaders! (Voice: Withdraw our drones! They're no match for Afghan knowledge rays!) (Woman: Dzhokhartom has more wisdom!) More from major Tom: Why didn't you become a math teacher in the Muslim world to help it's people be less vulnerable to foreign powers?" (Man 2: Foolish infidels" We Muslims invented Algebra! Now we will destroy them!!) "They lived and studied in America, where if you're upset about something, you have many ways to express your opposition and have impact-from organizing demonstrations to publishing articles...

why doesn’t Ted Rall become a cartoonist in the Muslim world to promote peace ?

There’s Tom’s world, the world of the rich, white and privileged and then there’s reality. How can someone so oblivious be respected for their ‘wisdom’? Because it’s other oblivions just like him that think he’s wise. As Bugs Bunny would say, “What a maroon!”

Is there actually evidence that the alleged Boston marathon bombers were upset with the U.S. wars on Iraq and Afghanistan?

Thomas Friedman has the kind of wisdom that goes via text message from taxi drivers in Karachi to lathe operators in Taiwan, all in the pursuit of that specialness that is America.
(The above was written by the Thomas Friedman op-ed column generator, an automatic webpage that shows you he can fix the world easily.)

As I recollect Tom supported wholeheartedly our wars of choice in Iraq and Afghanistan. The better query is why Tom Friedman hasn’t been tarred and feathered by the entire American populace long ago.

“It’s a pity they didn’t listen to Osama, who said NOT to kill innocents.”
Given a choice between your sappy “young Captain story” where you walk through corpses or the Osama bullshit story about not killing innocents it’s a tough decision. Okay I decided, they’re both ridiculous.

Yes. That’s my Plan. Bwaahahahaha! Because thinking the US government is run by evil fools automatically makes you an Islamist.
Better brush up on my Quran skillz.

As opposed to all the other ones. Because it’s TOTALLY rational to believe in God.

Dunno about Ima, but I actually did have a brief stint doing political cartoons for a school paper at one point. []Sadly, in the process I was fighting against nerve damage from injuries sustained to both hands. It’s now to where it’s physically painful for me to write or draw by hand for more than a few minutes at a time; drawing a full cartoon by hand is pretty much out of the question now.

I have never gotten used to Tom Friedman’s fatuousness. You don’t have to make fun of it; all you have to do is print it.
As for TR’s style, he is one of the few cartoonists whose work appropriately delineates the obscenity, cruelty, and ignorance of our ruling classes and the hucksters who serve them (like Friedman). Right on.

That’s kind of an obscure reference, but on re-reading the comic today I caught “Major Tom” in the third panel. Not quite so obscure.
