OMG, Margueritem (I don’t generally use that expression, but it seems to be appropriate here), I just clicked on your user name to get a better look at your current avatar, & found out that you have made 40,314 comments on GoComics! Having no idea, I have to ask: Is that a record?

And, since my last post, you’ve made 6 more comments on other strips! You go, girl! (Once again, not an expression I’d generally use…). You’re like a machine!

Nice to see Staton’s take on a classic scene from the Chin Chillar story (July 3, 1967):

More questions to ponder after reading today’s strip:1) Purdy’s with Notta? Yesterday she said he was “dead” – ???2) Where does Mysta want to go? Couldn’t be the moon, could it?3) “Mistress”? I’m getting a little Stiletta vibe here, since she had a henchman who called her that. Sounds like Retik’s role is to serve Mysta and do for her whatever she wants, hmmm.

Am I allowed to say this? Staton’s take on Mysta is delightful. The eyes are perfect, her long hair is killer, and that costume is about the sexiest I’ve ever seen.

Lush work by Joe Staton. The retro scene is very cool and nostalgic, the closeup scenes of Lizz, Notta and Mysta are beautiful, and little things like all the frilly furnishings in Notta’s apartment and the pics of Purdy add lots of pizzazz. We’re unbelievably fortunate to have Staton doing the art for this strip.

Today’s strip told me two things:Notta isn’t passing herself off as Moon Maid, and Chet Gould gave us some really ug-, I mean, unattractive females(and that’s even if you look past the beard and Dairy Queen hairdoo. whoof!).

Moon Maid’s back! I hope she’s ready for a trip to the Moon! I kind of think that’s where she wants Retik to take her, anybody else agree?

I think she wants to see Junior and Honeymoon. Did they put her back together but with a different personality?

After seeing todays installment and how Shane colored Notta’s hair I know that the GoComics colorist got it completely wrong on the daily strips … she doesn’t have pale green hair.-Joe, Mike, Shelley, Shane and Jim … your “Dick Tracy” just gets better and better. Thank you.

The shape of Retik’s head today makes me wonder if he might be a long lost family member of Flattop, LOL.. His strange hairline makes me wonder if there used to be horns there that possibly have been surgically removed.

As for calling Mysta mistress (try saying “mistress Mysta” three times quickly): Mysta was akin to being a princess on the Moon. I’m sure she grew up with many servants and attendants. She was accustomed to having her orders followed.

marvee asked today if they put Mysta back together with a new personality.

In our nostalgic haze, we tend to think of Moon Maid as that innocent, naive little girl who married Junior and was the sweet mother of Honeymoon. But Moon Maid always had another side to her personality that we sometimes forget.

She could be stubborn, demanding, and disobedient to her father as was often demonstrated. She often displayed moments of temper: zapping street thugs, shocking a dog that barked at Honeymoon, blasting a dress she didn’t like given to her by Lizz and Junior, freezing Lizz in her tracks, etc.

Tracy tried to talk Junior out of marrying Mysta by reminding him of how her temper could affect their marriage.

So, don’t let your nostalgia for a sweet little Moon Maid cloud your vision about all of the facets of her personality. When she first appeared in the strip, the Defense Department declared her a menace. She could detonate bombs in mid-air and disrupt all electronic communications with her powers.

Our sweet little Mysta can be a holy terror if she wants to be.

I read the story where Purdy froze on the moon’s surface when it originally was printed in the papers. Something about the story and the art was very frightening to me.

Notta knows she served her time, yet police have come calling

Tracy in that coat and hat, his presence just too galling.

Chin Chillar, her beloved, most clearly justified

Abducting Piggy Butcher, who laid hands on her and died.

‘Tis true that George did panic when Tracy came well armed

Caught while killing Piggy, understandably alarmed.

She wept as George lay dying, ran her fingers through his hair

Soon locked away in prison, she gave in to despair.

A widow in a jail cell: How could things be worse?

Purdy frozen on the Moon: Was there a family curse?

He tried to run from Tracy, his plan pure suicide

The Moon’s too cold for humans, and so he quickly “died.”

Klippoff claimed he’d bring him back, yet what walked through the door

Much more a corpse than human, it wasn’t Purdy anymore.

Now here’s Tracy at her door, kicking up a fuss
