Always nice to have an opportunity to agree with you, Ima. The mother does sound pretty bad according to latest reports. It shows the value of a set of loving parents who are willing to be there for their children and able to teach compassion & respect for all life.Respectfully,C.

McVeigh and NIchols must have had horrible mothers? BTW, with all the convicted murderers in the U.S., what percentage or number are Muslims? Aurora, Colorada, Kip Kinkel in Oregon, Tucson, Az;, we have more than enought NON-Muslim nut cases killing a lot more people, who are “home grown haters”.

We don’t prevent terrorists or murderers by pretending they are anomalous monsters. We need to know what made them what they are. Because then we can help prevent them occurring in the first place. That is NOT NOT NOT “it wasn’t his fault.” It is identifying an opportunity to intervene.I don’t prefer the NRA approach of waiting until they kill a zillion people and then punishing them for it.We have learned a lot about CTE in the last few years — getting your brain bounced around your skill, in brief — and have seen it has many detrimental effects, as many football players can attest. If he had been diagnosed with this, could we have made sure he didn’t go down this path, and take his brother with him?Condemn the action, but find out why.Violence may not always beget violence, but the evidence that it does all the time is very, very strong.

@dtrout…just in case your next post equates “Radical Christians” with “Radical Islamics”….(which I think you have done before)……read this 4/26/13 article=

http://www.americanthinker.com/printpage/?url=http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/../2013/04/radical_christianity_vs_radical_islam.html-Justice requires that accusers of “Christian violence” as being equal to the Global (all the world, every country) Islamic Jihad (violent, no mercy)…..Each accuser should get and study a Koran in your native language and count the number of times Allah commands murder in His name.-the Mother of the 2 Boston Bombers is common among thousands of mothers in Muslim governed countries (57 at least). Have you not heard or read of translated “Palestinian” mothers boasting about their sons (and daughters) achieving martyrdom and honoring the family?-Islam brainwashes from birth…..apparently it takes a miracle conversion to the God of Love not Death of the Bible, the God of the Jews and the Christians, to change the heart and beliefs of born Muslims. And that is happening all around the world, one by one. Praise God who loved Mankind enough to die to provide our Salvation from eternal punishment to eternal Blessing in God’s New Jerusalem above the coming New Earth.

Leave out the NRA jab if you like; but they are not willing to screen people before they buy weapons, and that was my point. The NRA has explicitly said they would permit potential terrorists and criminals to buy weapons (legally) rather than restrict access to regular Americans in any way.However.I don’t think David was jumping too fast; he was citing an interesting, possibly contributing factor. (I’m a research psychologist, after all, specializing in motivation and assessment.) I think “always” was an oversimplification; some people were raised in a violent world and managed to escape it. However, it is certainly true that abusers were often raised by abusers; violence in the home leads to violence elsewhere. This isn’t really in question. I thought you were too fast jumping on what you thought was the “liberal view.” I don’t think David was claiming it wasn’t the terrorist’s fault; I think he was citing one thing that contributed to it. That’s a level of nuance, which you interpreted as:

“So the “it wasn’t his fault” defense is raised by the Left. No big surprise there. Maybe he ate too many Twinkies too.”The Twinkie defense was a nonsensical attempt to divert a jury; it’s hardly a point of liberal belief. Nor is the idea of taking personal responsibility limited to conservatives. Liberals respect the individual and the individual’s right to run his or her own life as he or she sees fit. That is taking personal responsibility. But lots of people get angry, upset, even violent without deliberately setting bombs. If we can trace that point — and David, in my view, was proposing ONE point of attack — we could define what tips someone over. You used that as the basis for an attack on the Left, one that in my view has no basis in fact.Does that make more sense?

On your second post to me: Speaking as a motivational psychologist and a generally sensible person, people rarely do major things for one simple reason. Your point on how a “Radical Muslim could have just influenced the both” is both true and possibly irrelevant. A White Power radical could have influenced them both. (After all, they are from the Caucasus, the source of the name Caucasian!) Furthermore, there are lots of people influenced by radical Muslims, radical Christians, and other religions who do not throw bombs. You are jumping to a conclusion and demonizing an entire group based on no real data. Let’s find out what happened, let’s find out why, and then let’s take action that will work.

Kylie2112 said, about 4 hours ago@disgustedtaxpayer “You might want to see what the Bible says to do to unbelievers”-God did, after giving idolators long periods of time to repent, order His people to finally begin to move into the Land God promised to Abraham and his descendants. But God knew the idolators had been warned but would never repent. It was God’s Justice. God also warned His people against idolatry, and when they refused to repent God punished them.-In the Jewish New Testament, Jesus commanded to do this to unbelievers……“Go and Tell” the NT Gospel “to all the world.” The NT Church, Bride of Christ, has no earthly land promised, and no reason and no orders from God to punish idolators. When Jesus Christ returns from Heaven, with the armies of Heaven with Him, Jesus himself will slay all the World Armies at Armageddon, and set up His Kingdom of peace, true peace, with Satan and his demons imprisoned so they cannot influence Mankind during the 1,000 years of an earth-wide, restored Eden. All you need do is read and believe the Bible, Kylie. And in reading, check exactly WHO is getting orders from God in the 66 books of the Bible.
