Then it’s a good thing no one proposed an oppressive law that removed the 2nd amendment.

Depite the claims of polls the majority of Americans did not support stricter gun support. Go back and look at the news, for every one story claiming the majority of Americans were for ever stricter gun control laws there were eight showing that gun sales were way up and that there were places where it was the exact opposite to stricter gun control. This was from around the country. There was just yesterday a news story that the AR-15 is selling in record numbers since these last few months. Stricter gun control laws aren’t going to stop gun crimes from happening as the only ones who tey will affect will be law abiding citizens, but the irony is those pushing for such don’t want to get that. They want to believe that if it becomes illegal folks won’t have it. There is a reason why so many of these crimes are already said to be carried out with illegal guns, and such crimes will continue whether or not there is stricter gun control.

If stricter gun laws don’t work then why is gun violence down so much in Australia after they enacted strict gun laws?

“voted on by the PEOPLE, not by the Congress?”

I would sign your petition. I would also be more than willing to support the true will of the people in such an issue, regardless of how it impacts me. That’s democracy. My concern and I’m hoping not to appear cynical, but: many times in many states the people have voted on a bill, and the opposition didn’t like the results so they threw it into the courts and in many cases overturned the “will of the people.” California is a classic case of that with the gay marriage bill. It would also be nice if they wrote the proposed legislation so someone that didn’t go to law school could understand it..
